Wow you guys have NFI. Tait's first game back, should have had 3 or more wickets if the umpire can do there job.

He is a master with an old ball, no one can reverse swing in Australia like him.

A fully fit and firing Tait is the number 1 bowler in this country on song.

Well he looked very ordinary, his pace was pedestrian after one over, in what is supposedly his speciality game, the one he wanted to focus on.

He's far from fully fit and is still recovering from hammy troubles.

Don't get me wrong, he's a long, long way from test cricket (if ever), but he offers so much in the short forms when fit and firing - like when he dominated the world cup.

That first over last night was amazing.

his 'pedestrain' pace was equivalent to the fastest spells we have seen from either side during the test team.

Even though I am a South Aussie, I dont want Tait near the Test side for the forseeable future.

When he gets a bit fitter, does more than just bowl erratic and fast and has his heart in it then possibly.

He may get domestic wickets by bowling fast, but bowls too much crap to be a test match bowler. Although he is a terrific option in the 20/20 and OD formats of the game.

Would be good if he can add more strings to his bow and be the bowler that many people believe he can be.

Spot on actually. Shaun is deluding himself if he thinks he's a test cricketer. Doesn't have the stamina, control, consistency, heart or mental strength to be effective at test level.

ODI and T20 suit his style of quick and unpredictable. Deep down he knows this too.

Fact is Tait's shield form is crap - he knows it. He needs to finish off the season well by getting his body right. For the moment - 20-20 and one-dayers are all he can hope for.

He is the spark that Australia desperately needs in Test cricket. Our attack is too pedestrian - we need an x-factor - but he needs to be in form and also doesn't break down every two weeks (enter Mr Watson as well).

I was actually at the game last night. I also went to the first 3 days of the Boxing Day test.
Just the speed Tait generated last night was intimidating. Anyone would have been intimidated. The only way you can see how fast this guy bowls is to be at the ground. He intimidates the batsmen with the speed and does not act like a mate towards them. He does not give a rats if he hurts them.
Kallis was out but not given and he clearly shook up De Villiers.
Who shook DeVilliers up in Perth I ask???
Who shook up the the South Africa tail on the 3rd day of the boxing day test???
That's why we bloody lost the tests, because the South Africans were comfortable with our bowlers who could not get wickets or shake them up in any way.
Even if Tait does not get wickets, he puts fear into the batsmen with his speed. He is unpredictable, which in a way is good. He might bowl a wide or he might bowl a yorker that will knock the stumps out of the ground.
All of you Tait knockers are morons.

He did also have Kallis out but the ump got it wrong.

there isn't a bowler in Australia who can hit the pitch exactly where they want it, Mcgrath and Warne were about it for us, even Dizzy had the odd lapse in control. The current test bowling team couldn't bowl 6 balls on the same spot to save their lives so Taits issue is hardly an issue its just more pronounced than the others, but so are the rest of his skills.

Agreed the over was exciting, but have you watched any of the recent tests? Siddle, Johnson, Bollinger were all into the 140s, Siddle even was up towards 150 at some stages, Lee was injured but he can get up there too. I think that's one of the good things about our new look pace attack, they're all pretty quick. And Hilfenhaus can get pretty sharp from what i remember.
