I understand most of you must be frustrated. Believe me as am I. In fact, this would have to be one of the hardest losses to cope i have ever experienced. Now that this game is over, there is no point dwelling on the past. Thinking what could have been. What we could have done. What we should have done. It's time we take a step forward and erase this game from our minds.
In some ways though, this is the sort of loss we needed. It reminded people that Judd even when not 100% fit, won't be the messiah to take us out of our deep hole we have dug ourselves in over the past few seasons. And reminded us that Fevola wont average a bag every game with such a potent midfield. Hopefully now, our group can refresh and re-group for next game and put this horrible night behind them. We play Richmond round 14 so we can get another shot at them. Hopefully by then, they will be a little lower then where they are at the present time.
After all actions do speak louder then words.
Lets just keep in mind that Geelong this time last year, were 0-1. I'm sure after such a disappointing year in 06, the supporters were ready to jump off the bandwagon after round 1. Their fighting spirit and determination though astounded critics and look what happened. They put the media and baggers behind them and did what they did best. Not that I am comparing us to Geelong though.
Let's look forward to next week against the saints in front of a packed Telstra dome crowd. At the present time we are way off being favorites but with Hampson back, Kreuzer debuting, and possibly Fisher returning from injury, we could put up a show. After all, we almost beat them last year even though we were under the influence of the 'tanking' syndrome.
We will cop a lot of flak for this loss, but there is much more to look forward to. I can guarantee you, more positives will be gained then negatives this year. Screw what anyone says. Comments can't destroy us.
We are Carlton f*** the rest.
