I understand most of you must be frustrated. Believe me as am I. In fact, this would have to be one of the hardest losses to cope i have ever experienced. Now that this game is over, there is no point dwelling on the past. Thinking what could have been. What we could have done. What we should have done. It's time we take a step forward and erase this game from our minds.
In some ways though, this is the sort of loss we needed. It reminded people that Judd even when not 100% fit, won't be the messiah to take us out of our deep hole we have dug ourselves in over the past few seasons. And reminded us that Fevola wont average a bag every game with such a potent midfield. Hopefully now, our group can refresh and re-group for next game and put this horrible night behind them. We play Richmond round 14 so we can get another shot at them. Hopefully by then, they will be a little lower then where they are at the present time. :) After all actions do speak louder then words.
Lets just keep in mind that Geelong this time last year, were 0-1. I'm sure after such a disappointing year in 06, the supporters were ready to jump off the bandwagon after round 1. Their fighting spirit and determination though astounded critics and look what happened. They put the media and baggers behind them and did what they did best. Not that I am comparing us to Geelong though.
Let's look forward to next week against the saints in front of a packed Telstra dome crowd. At the present time we are way off being favorites but with Hampson back, Kreuzer debuting, and possibly Fisher returning from injury, we could put up a show. After all, we almost beat them last year even though we were under the influence of the 'tanking' syndrome.

We will cop a lot of flak for this loss, but there is much more to look forward to. I can guarantee you, more positives will be gained then negatives this year. Screw what anyone says. Comments can't destroy us.
We are Carlton f*** the rest.

Good attitude. :thumbsu:

Patience is the key with such a young list. It'll be an exciting two or three years watching these young stars develop alongside Judd, but it will also be a frustrating one.

All you need is improvement each year, if Carlton get worse, then I'd be shitting myself!

Alright i understand the need to be positive and we need a rebuilding stage but for god sake this is the 7th year of rebuilding and you say we need another 3 thats horrible.

We were set back a couple of years by the draft penalties but can you honestly say it set us back 10 years?

I think we are improving but to continue to discount years because of rebuilding is a rediculous proposition.

On the day our draft penalties were announced in Nov 2002, Gerard Healy made the comment on 3AW that given the state of our list at that time, the draft penalties would lead to the club needing 10 years to fully rebuild & be successful again. I hoped at the time he would be way off, but we are currently coming into our 7th year & there is clearly still some hard work ahead. I would still like to think we won't have to wait until 2011/2012 to achieve the ultimate success, but we still need to get a lot of game time into our quality kids like Murphy, Gibbs, Grigg, Hampson, Kreuzer before we are going to be able to consistently challenge teams at the top end of the ladder.

I remember laughing that off when i heard it at the time.

Walls said same. 10 years. Spot on. FMD.

It didn't really seem feasible at the time that it could be right. Now, coming into our 7th season since then, it is looking like he won't be too far off the mark.

Wow, that penalty was quicker than a virgin on prom night, or a carlton supporter watching Judd in the first minutes of the Richmond match!

Perhaps I am wrong and the egg is on my face. After all you are 4th on the ladder!

And to think I thought you were going to fail again...

Ah well, harp back to the past hey? Except to say that the humor is well and truely gone and the infractions are flying around faster than the blue blurr through turnstiles with 10 minutes left in the match!

It's 1:30 and I'm struggling to stay awake - but WTF are you talking about?

L L L L L L L L Losers!!!

There are many words that can be used to describe you...

On the whole, I think that I prefer ankle to describe someone like you.

And if you are wondering why I chose ankle to describe you, it's because an ankle is about 3 feet lower than a prick and about 2.5 feet lower than a twat...

Now go away

I don't care what other people say, I care what I think. And I think we were absolutely ****ing terrible. No heart. NOBODY was playing for the guernsey other than Simpson and a few others. Put your head in and get the ****ing pill boys! Ratten was completely outcoached as well. I could write a flipping essay on how we were smashed in the tactical side of the game. None of our boys have any brains whatsoever. If your a defender -its flipping simple, YOUR JOB IS TO SPOIL! Why o why do time and time again we try and mark in our defensive 50 in contested battles? Just punch the flipping ball. Its not rocket science. I don't care about what other people will say, I care about how this once great club has become a god damn joke. The only positive i can think of is that we'll improve with the additions of the likes of Hampson, Bentick, Fisher etc as well as Judd and Stevens improving with each game

L L L L L L L L Losers!!!

Couldn't come up with anything better then repeating "L"? Piss poor attempt at a troll.

Ah well, enjoy the victory. Don't forsee too many more for the Tigers this season (nor all that many for Carlton, to be perfectly honest - though more than the spitting rabble down Punt Road :D )

Just got home from a FANTASTIC day out!!! Took an annual leave day from work to really enjoy the 1st game of the season...started off at the London Tavern, sunk many a beer, went to game, watched a magnificent victory of course and ended up at 3 of Richmonds finest pubs afterwards...

Richmond - we are very average but great to have a win..

Carlton - you are pathetic, nothing more, nothing less!!!

Well done on beating last years 15th with far from our fitest/best team... We have alot more to come and I doubt your boys do - I look forward to round 14.

look on the bright side, you are still 4th. That is probably the highest position you will occupy in the next 10 years.

Quick, take a photo next to the Herald Sun.

And there will probably be an international competition with teams in Hong Kong, Joburg, Taiwan, New Zealand and even the Gold Coast!

It will probably be a wonderful time won't it?

I don't think so pal, but at least you are almost up to admiting it.

Wonderful word, probably, isn't it?

Probably.

Yes it is a wonderful word isn't it pal !
As I said , your mob probably will be back down the bottom where it belongs , while Carlton will be back up the top end again probably with another 1 or 2 premierships to add to their whopping collection .

Whatever you say boss. I just like to use this century, not last, when taking relevant information for immediate and short term trends.

Probably again in there. Not the confident bunch you once were hey? Arrogant still yes, but knocked down a notch or 15. I guess you get that when you have to play be the rules.

Cool. Have a nice night.
