Not sure some people realise just how dire our KPP situation is. Both Brown and Hartley are must gets IMO.

Also - speaking of midfielders - Laverde please. This guy is a bull. Loves the contest, hits ball and body with absolute intent. Hopefully he's already running laps to build the engine - he's too good a competitor to not have him on the ball. Dangerfield like (ok not yet).

Except for (arguably) Pears, none.of Gumby, Hislop, Hooker, Jetta, Davey, Reimers showed what Laverde, Langford, Zerret and Hepps showed from day 1 Imo.

Throw on late round gems like Pig, Gleeson, bags and others and id say its been a steady incline in draft form.

Wierd its taken losing top end talls for average picks only to then start nailing midfielders which we havent done well with our higher picks for years.

I disagree with this. Davey in particular was electric in his first season, at least until he broke his arm. Showed much more than Langford, though he was older when drafted so it's probably not a good comparison anyway.

Jetta also showed a a lot of promise in his first season IMO. He just never really seemed to improve over the subsequent years.

It's funny, every time I see the reference to the makeup of our list I can't help but think "disaster".

Balance has been shot to pieces due a combination of bad luck, the saga and poor list management decisions.

In Hurley, Hooker, Daniher and McKernan we have 3.5 key position players you'd be happy to be in the team for 22 rounds next year. McKernan the forward is still only theoretical but I am confident he will be a very good key forward.

We might have a few mid-sized forwards who can pinch hit as talls. The other options we have for the key defensive posts are the definitions of list cloggers.

All of this in a context in which our midfield was found our for being junk because two role players (admittedly very good role players) battled injury all year.

Still think that we have to invest our high picks in the midfield and look to fill out our spine with guys who can play a role now and potentially be developed into something.

All Mason Shaw and Cameron Giles would have to be able to do is rock up fit to training by December for me to rookie them.

Davey showed much more i his first season? His brother - maybe. Alwyn was exciting for sure but in terms of the role we brought Langford in to play the signs were pretty good for mine.

After year one (forgetting Davey was 23) Davey looked like a great addition, Langford looks like a class above most for mine.

If Laverde wasnt getting all the girls we would be very very excited about 'Ghost Dog 'Langford.

I expected Langford to move into the midfield at the latter end of 2016 or early 2017. Seeing as he's already done so and looked comfortable there that's a massive positive in my eyes.

Any chance that if McKenna comes to Essendon with Worsfold that we will show renewed interest in Bennell.

He would be a perfect complement to our midfield, not to mention his goal kicking ability.

Thoughts?

Is it my imagination that Langford is dopey looking but always seems to have plenty of time.

Just like a young James Hird.

He'll never be the bull that Danger is but he's classier. I prefer to see him as a quicker version of Pendlebury and better overhead.

Why 'ghost dog'?

The step and sideways vision is there with them both. Laverde is just a little more classy though.

It's your kid against mine.

The winner will be showered in praise, the loser will be taunted and booed until my throat is sore.

My good sir, I think the only way your throat will be getting sore is from your action based apology.
