Please listen you guys what is going on we have moved on a strong durable CHF to get what another midfielder Jong ? Ridiculous trading idea
jong can stay at Bulldogs play hard ball and ask for stringer or crameri or NO DEAL
Why should we make our oppostion stronger while our club sinks I REUSE TO SEE ANOTHER YEAR OF COLLINGWOOD SITTING CLOSE TO BOTTOM TABLE.

We want to move frost on who is depth and get rid of NATHAN brown and replacve them with who ?

Ben Reid cant string a full season together and Keefe hasnt played in 2 years what do you expecty from him ?

The games pace thesedays causes players especially kpps to get injuries and many donnot last a full season ?

We cannot rely on MOORE COX AND WHITE TOO FLAKY AND FASOLO AND ELLIOT ARE FAR TOO INJURY PRONE.
These guys can are good when fit but are more injured than not cant win flags like that

We must get out there and target 2-3 solid kp backmen NOT fringe players and get a CHF either ready made like kENNEDY who can kick straight FROM WEST COAST AND WILL SOON BE A FREE AGENT or target a PATTON OR CAMERON OR WRIGHT from Gold COAST Lynch wont leave he'll stay at Gold Coast.

you cant win flags with peripheral players we need a solid base of guns and depth players who play their role not plodders KP players win flags not midfielders kp players are worth gold midielders are dime a dozen many of them............Our midfield is not the problem our forward and backlines are

Fix those areas and we are back on top or tumble further to wooden spooners.

WAKE UP COLLINGWOOD

YEAH WAKE UP SHEEPLE

If Brown gets a bigger offer elsewhere and if Keeffe can come back to some kind of form over the first 10 weeks, I'd be OK with
Reid + Howe + Marsh + Frost/Keeffe
(with another young tall targeted with the pick we would get for Browny).

Keep Brown Frost he can go. Target someone like MACKENZIE from West COAST and an experienced defender. Also as back up target marchbank or Tomlinson from GWS why ? Cos if history has shown us that Keefe hasnt played in 2 years and is also injury prone.Marsh is going to be good but cant handle the gorilla forwards too small,,,so we need MACKENZIE OR BROWN.......DONT RELY ON PLAYERS WHO ARE INJURY PRONE TOU WONT GET A FULL SEASON OUT OF THEM.We need resiliant players thats what wins flags

Funny this thread started with OP saying brown was shit and now is regretting losing him

He had a pretty good year apart from being unfairly dropped when Kennedy beat him up at subi.
Really? Can you read? OP wrote Brown that is all! Opening line of the thread.

That's the positive side.
We need an upgrade on Brown or Frost for starting 22 anyway, so maybe the draft picks will help with that.

I'd be happy with Keeffe Reid and Marsh with a youngster picked up from another club or via the draft. I'd expect one of Brown or Frost to stay.

oops....just said what you said....

Keeffe and Thomas will come back and spend a year struggling in the VFL before being delisted.
Agree. Keeffe would be delisted by now if he was playing anyway. He was exposed 2 years ago for the fraud he was as a defender. If he's going to make it he will need to play forward where Mick Malthouse had him but that's not going to happen.
Thomas I liked. Inconsistent but loved him in 2012. 5 years on whether he can produce the same geez big ask.

Bump. Lose Brown and Frost.
Enter Keeffe eekkkk.
Reid can he go all season again?
Keeffe and Reid. Goldsack? Geez slim pickings.

You were right with the OP, kind of (I didn't see it at the time). I don't believe tall timber, or lack thereof, was actually our biggest problem down back this year. You are right with this post too. Outside of Reid there is not much to get excited about in terms of KPD. Keeffe is a risk worth taking but not something we want to rely on paying off. We need to invest in some tall talent but I can't see it happening this off season given our lack up forward. Reid or bust.

This is what concerns me. My recollection of Keeffe in his last games for us was that he performed poorly. Would drop his head when things were going badly down back, panicking, etc.

I would love him to come back and be the saviour of our back line, but I cant see that happening. Also I fear that two years out of the system - not just sidelined with injury, but out of the structured, managed, learning environment of an AFL club - will be too much.
Maybe your memory is tainted by the persistent BS soem are posting?

That's so sweet! All is well mate. I have just completely lost interest in the last part of the year. When trade period comes around in a few months I usually experience a rekindling of interest. So until then.. Go Swans!

Good to hear you are well........don't blame you for losing interest by the way.

Go Pies @ VFL

P.S Don't forget to check out the Tapping Coaching Discussion Thread :p

Your avatar always cheers me up. See you soon!?

Fairly decent prediction just quietly..

Brown potentially on the move, Frost gone and not AFL standard anyways..

Leaves Reid (injury prone), Keeffe (2 years out of the game), Marsh (plays on 3rd tall), Howe (undersized but can compete against taller opponents)

Obviously why we threw big coin to lure Hurley but unfortunately failed.

Shame we didn't hang on to Hartley, thought he was solid this year.

Im not nearly as concerned about our backline as others. In fact I think we have the personal to be a very strong backline. I think Marsh is a full back. I know he is not overly tall but he can jump and spoil but more important can go with most forwards who in this day and age are quick and athletic. Reid is as good as any CHB in the game and hopefully he has another relatively injury free season. With keefe coming back and guys who can play on third talls like Ramsey, Shaz and Howe I think we have enough their. Obviously pending injuries of course.

The biggest issue with our defense is not the personal its they way they have been coached to defend and this is accross the entire ground. I went to the game we got smashed by port who on that day kicked some of the easiest goals you would ever see and you could tell once they got the ball at half back the would score.

Sydney and the dogs have both had good backlines this year but dont have great tall timber. They are alot better organised.

The reason you should be concerned is because it's not a premiership looking backline. Who can you see at fullback and CHB in our next flag team?

We need to find ourselves a Harry Taylor, a mature aged defender who is performing week in, week out at a state level. (Obviously not going to get one as good as HT though)

Ryan Pendlebury is one of course, although he's not quite tall enough to be an absolute key defender his form over the past 2 seasons will earn him a spot on an AFL rookie list next year. I'd take him as absolute backup.

I see it as our quickest fix, if Brown and Frost do leave our "first choice" setup looks ok still (Keeffe, Marsh, Howe, Reid, Ramsay, Berg, Langdon) but we would have almost zero depth down back.

Seems we are actively seeking to improve our forward line, while almost ignoring the elephant in the room, our backline depth.

Gees, I watched Marsh this year and thought he had potential as a third tall defender, but needed at least a couple of more years experience to iron out the glaring errors he makes. As a full back, next year? Wow, would have thought he could get absolutely carved to smithereens by any decent experienced forward. Two or three years from now might be worth considering but not one to build a premiership defence on. Keeffe, well if he came back consistently playing the best he played in the past he'd offer something decent but if he doesn't, and that would have to be the more likely outcome, we really have nothing outside Reid (& Howe if he plays there). I'm not saying the defence will be useless but it won't be a part of out team to rely on for a win. At best, with lots of help from the middles it will break even or nullify the oppositions attacks.

You're thinking about the Mackenzie from GC who is a flanker. The Mackenzie from WC is a KPP.

Yes bucks spot on.Look guys looks like frosty will go to freo and if Brown goes to Norf as predicted we really serioUsly need to get a strong kp backman and quick.Surely the pies are not stupid enough to lose 2 kp backmen and not have anyone else in mind .Mackenzie from West Coast is a free agent and available and is reasonably resiliant....The other option is Mitch BROWN but he is worse than his brother injured all the time.

If possible i would try and lure Barasss from West Coast he is young and would fit into group perfectly plus looks like a good player......Marchbank has injury problems plus i believe he nominated SAINTS as his preffered club of choice.

Pity we couldnt get Hurley he would have been ideal

Who are Sydneys CHB and Full back? They are the flag favorites.

My preferred backline over the next few years would be

Maynard Marsh Ramsey
Howe Reid Scharenberg

Add Smith, Landgon,Sinclair and Brown as back ups and there is a good mix and enough talent. They looked crap this year because the defensive structure and organisation is awful but I see that backline as having plenty of potential and could easily be as good or better than Sydneys backline this year.

I personally disagree. In 2009 would anyone have picked Brown and Reid to be premiership Full backs and CHB. Both were playing mainly 2s from memory.

Marsh has great pace, reasonable strength, can jump and spoil. There are not too many monster full forwards these days. I'd much rather him continue to develop into this role , rather than have a rebounding defender role as his disposal is not good enough.
