Yep. We were counting SANFL Preseason games in that period, whereas the AFL doesn't recognise them in the F/S eligibility tally.

not quite true. we weren't using preseason games, the AFL was. their task committee requested the data, and used it to draw the line at a point where an agreed pool of players was caught.

this is THE most important part of a now redundant argument

they didn't set eligibility, which meant players XYZ were included. they set the eligibility so that players xyz were included.

if they realised there data contained what it did, they would have moved the eligibility lower. they started with the pool of players and worked backwards.

summary: we got ****ed even more than that it sounded.

Are these types of bags of goals/large goal scorers common in the TAC cup?

I know in SANFL underage divisions you see alot of blokes who kick 100's of goals every year and then struggle in the open age divisions but does this often happen in Vic?

The leading goal scorer is on 20 goals after seven rounds (though he has only played four games). Walker is coming second - if he did kick nine on the weekend then he'd be on 19. But I haven't seen anything to suggest that he kicked nine and I do get my hands on official stats. Regardless, 17 goals still has him in second spot.

Eight goals is the most I've seen kicked in a TAC Cup match this season. Walker kicked 7 (I'm still calling it that), 6 and 4. There's been quite a few six goal hauls that I can remember. It would've been interesting to see if Walker could've kept that rate up - the leading goal kicker is generally around the 70 goal mark (incl. finals) in about 20 games.

I spoke to a Melbourne based explayer yesterday who after finishing his own career works with the under 18 comp, I mentioned Taylor Walker to get some good oil and he genuinely didn't know him [yet lets hope] he did speak of another young bloke playing for the side aligned with Carlton who he says is an absolute freak and will go number 1 in his opinion. Over 6 foot but runs like a gazzelle [love that word] and below his knees he makes the rovers look slow, if only I could remember his name...

I don't think it matters as if the player is going to go No 1 we won't be in a position to draft him.

Just on Walker, some people are talking about getting him with a low draft pick but reading the AFL rules, it seems to work the same way as the rookie draft. Once they are on your books you can elevate them to your main list without using a draft pick as long as you have enough picks, 3 I think, left for the National draft. So at the end of the year we delist certain players then elevate any rookie or scholarship player as long as we end up with at least 3 picks in the draft. Am I correct?

1. There are people throughout the AFL all over OZ at the moment thinking they have the next GAMEBREAKER lined up and although the conversation did take place let's not get too carried away about a 17 yr old who is still a long way from pulling on an AFC jumper.

2.I wish him every success but gee's at 17 he's just a pup. Hopefully he lives his dream of playing for the Crows but too much pressure too early can prove to be a deterent.

spoke to him yeaterday! he only kicked 7. he is working very hard but still has a long way to go so don't get to excited everyone! He is playing good footy at the moment and has played against men in broken hill. So he has some very good positives but until he makes it hold tight

Yeah, the interstate teams have finished their three week set of games in the TAC Cup. For the past couple of years all the Division 2 state teams have played three games against TAC Cup sides sort of as an exhibition series. The games count on the ladder towards the TAC Cup sides and all the stats count.
