Taylor Walker

If Walker was dealt I think half the Adelaide board would off themselves (well, the half that's still alive after last night).

Id take him in a heart beat

but we probably dont need him, nor will we even go hard for him id say

Think quick: Who's kicked more goals this year out of Walker and Cloke?
at a guess walker, with 1 less game iirc

The mere fact you're asking the question means the answer is Walker. Wouldn't be by much though, surely.... 5 goals, if that. Walker would've only played 10ish games this year.

Fixed. Dangerfield's ahead of Cloke too.

I'm just so frustrated with him atm - imagine how much more confident we'd all feel going into the Geelong game if our CHF could kick a goal!
really 7? walker has missed more and cloke missed less then i thought

Firstly it will never happen for all the reasons already stated.

Secondly, he is exactly the sort of player we need. A full forward that would allow Anthony to play CHF and Cloke HFF. KPP are precisely what we need this year and if we could snaffle Walker for a first rounder plus a good player i'd jump at it.

Walker would take more than our first round pick this year, you guys are underrating him.

He is a prestigious talent, probably the most talented young KPF under say 20/21 for mine.
You don't give those sort of blokes up. I honestly see him as the next J.Brown, I rate him considerably.

Spot on.

I can understand people getting excited when the idea of luring a player as gifted as Walker is presented, but he grew up a staunch crows supporter and refused several advances from a number of AFL clubs as a junior to join them, requesting to deal only with the crows. Also signed a contract extension to the end of 2011 a few weeks back. There is absolutely no truth to this rumour at all and frankly...that article is an embarrassment. The last line is particularly amusing.

"But Adelaide could be tempted to use Walker as trade bait to bolster their relatively inexperienced ruck stocks."

Yeah. We're going to use the most talented youngster we've had the club in over 10 years as trade bait for a bit of ruck depth. If that doesn't tell you the whole thing is a load of crap, I really don't know what to say.

You're correct, it won't happen. But I would be disappointed if Collingwood didn't explore the avenues of looking into recruiting the best players that would help our cause.

I'm sure when a player like Steele Sidebottom comes out of contract teams will explore if they can move him or not.

And realize Walker is contracted.

I realise he's very talented (I love it whenever he plays for Norwood, because he always kicks goal in the SANFL), and he's obviously got a long way to go in his physical development, but he's actually only 190cm and 87kg, so he's not really ever going to be a massive power forward or anything. Don't get me wrong, he'd be a handy addition going forward for any team, but I don't think we need to move 'heaven and earth' (as Essendon are apparently willing to do) to get him. I'd rather just persist with John Anthony at Full Forward, and if Sean Rusling (who is of similar size to Walker, but is a much more explosive athlete) can get his body right, use him as the 3rd tall up forward.

Making him a whole 3cm smaller than Riewoldt, 1cm under Fevola and 5cm smaller than Brown. Weight will obviously come with time, it is like his 2nd AFL season or there abouts.

I doubt a few cms will hold him back from being a power forward, he has all the other attributes to do it I think.

Plugger was 191cm and Dunstall was 188cm, a couple of centimetres really doesn't matter, it has more to do with the way you play and Walker is a genuine forward target.

Might be still growing anyway, a lot of people are at this stage of their life.

Spot on :thumbsu:

And those sorta boys don't come around to often.

maybe rusling to adelaide and we get walker. Could be a win-win for both clubs.

you have to be joking does that guy ever get out on the park, he has a body of a 50 yr. Old. No thanks walker will never leave the crows he loves them to much just like buckley wont go anywhere else other than the pies.......

I thought this rumour might have had some legs, but looking at the fact it is from Fox Sports means it is just that a rumour.

We couldn't get him anyway, it would take a top 10 pick to grab him, plus a substantial contract offer which would put us in salary cap trouble for a few years.

No chance of him coming to Collingwood.

Now there is a person that has some common sense.....

Riewoldt is an elite runner and marker, and Fevola, Brown, Plugger and Dunstall are/were all around the 100kg mark (and the latter are two of the greatest goalkickers to play they game, and played in an era where defenders were usually smaller than them), so they're all a bit different to Walker.

Still, time will tell whether Walker becomes a great forward or not, and I was just merely pointing out his size as a matter of interest more than anything else. Going by the height and weight that he's listed at in the 2009 AFL Prospectus, he's pretty much the same size (just 1kg lighter) as Scott Pendlebury. Right now, as much as I like Walker as a talent (he's certainly good to watch for the Redlegs at SANFL level), I'd rather we put time into and develop the guys we have, as I feel we'd probably have to give up a lot to prise him away from the Crows.

Usual crap with every player under the Sun being linked to Collingwood.

Walker is a Broken Hill boy, which is about as South Australian as you can get in NSW. They even follow AFL instead of NRL because of it's geographic proximity to Adelaide as opposed to Sydney.

He has no reason to leave the Crows, hence I reckon the entire article is complete BS.

I can't be bothered getting into it, but Fevola was about 80kg when drafted (I'm sure the others were similar), so I hardly see what relevance it has at all.

These blokes didn't come into the AFL as elite runnerd or 100kg body builders, they took time to get where they are now just as it will take Walker time before he fills out to their degree.
A few kgs and cms isn't gonna stop that.

Strange article.

One of the weirdest ever. He has 2 years to go on his contract, he had no idea they were showing any interest in him and no one has approached the club to consider a trade. What was the point of the article? Next will be Freo have been watching Reiwoldt play and want to get him. (Not that Im comparing Walker to Reiwoldt)

Hence the reason why I said "time will tell". Still, I don't think there'd really have been a time where Plugger was ever considered a young skinny body :p Seriously though, you're right, his size now won't make a difference to much in the future. He's hardly a skeletal structure a la Tony Notte.

If we could get him, it'd be great, but don't think the Crows would want to give him up, and if they did, I'd imagine we'd have to pay a very large price (in terms of players/picks) to get him. He's a great young talent, but I'd rather us just work with and develop what we have right now.
