Doesn't anyone else find it worrying that we are dropping/talking about dropping young guys ( Reilly and Trent Hen ) when these guys are supposedly meant to be our future? I would only drop Reilly if one of the young guys comes in. I reall can't see the point in dropping Radar and bringing in say Begley/Ladhams/Bode.

No I don't find it worrying because these youngsters will suffer from inconsistencies. Generally players take 50 odd AFL games to find consistency in their performance and both of the players you mentioned are pretty raw in footy terms.

I heard that too. My Uncles, friend second cousin reckons preliminary talks have already commenced to trade Van Berlo and Perrie for Waters, Butler and a 1st rounder.

Don't agree with this Springy.

You can rebuild in more ways than one IMO.

If Mattner, Hudson, Rutten go from being fringe players to damn good ones who demand a regular spot then they're like new players. The same applies to a lesser degree to Shirley and Skippy.

Thompson who attacks replaced Stenglein who defends - another improvement.

While all these players are playing well, the younger players can improve their game and confidence to make them more ready to take their chance at AFL when it comes.

Personally I think Craig is handling his players well. If he followed all the advice from this board on selection we'd be guaranteed a priority pick.

Good point. It frustrates me that other teams play their teenagers whereas we seem to leave ours to rot in the sanfl for 20 + games. I was recently listening to an interview with the editor of Inside Football ( on KG and Cornes )and the general consensus was that guys like Rutten, Mattner, Reilly should have been regulars in the side at least 12 months before they were.

springy the champ is right, we have the juniors lined up there and we're just waiting. If i was to look at it cynically, i would say that NC is trying to show that we are rebuilding the side and that the recycled types are no longer an option for us. An excuse if you like, to play the ‘average’ types like skippy we are atm. BTW Matter, Rutten, skipworth and shirely isnt young blood, as some have said these are 21-22 yr olds, and a 24yr old. We must be the only club to debut guys at 21. An astute outback jack prediction is that, i think you can rule a line through massie, and ladhams. That will upset some of his loyal supporters here, jack is so sad for them. Personally i feel a bit for massie, cause he lacks talent but not effort and hasnt been given a chance at all this yr. Ladhams however derserves what he gets.

I can understand NC not changing the side, but am disappointed cause we have got some in that 18-21 yr old range that we need to fast track to have premiership success while the guns are still around. If watts, VB and co dont come in the last half of the season it will be time to ask questions again. As has been said many times the youth is our future, there is no other way we will improve.

I would like NC to give jericho and reilly far more game time as well. It is fine to include them in the team but playing them for 5 mins a quarter isnt going to help them. I hope to see roo and co spending far less time in the middle too and let thompson have a go. Surely he'd have some match fitness by now.

Big call, but I see where you're coming from.

I like to mix it up abit, confuse the opposition. We catch them off guard by playing Massie at FF, and then for the knockout blow, move Smithy to CHF - Bang, bang game ovber - Adelaide 6-4 . This selection caper is pretty easy really.
