Team v Geelong

8 players with a combined 51 games experience between them....

Hill - 11
Suban - 11
Kiwi - 11
De Boer - 6
Foster - 6
Broughton - 4
Walters - 1
Pearce - 1

And six of them are first year players, and three of those are from the rookie list.

That's pretty freakin amazing really....

Peake has had a good season, but his last couple of games have been a bit off, which was probably all the credit he has been given. Perhaps being dropped will help him, ala Duffield. Needs to be more damaging.

Yeah but the problem is Peake is 26... Duff is 23 with half the football experience. Duffield also has class with the ball... peake does not

The problem with Peake is his downsides are ones you cannot hope to change at his age. Kicking, Heart, Intensity are attributes you can work on when they are teenagers but not when they are on their way out.

Basically someone like Walters offers far more than Peake across all the boards except maybe a slight edge in foot speed. Hence peake should be canned.

Amen...

26 years of age
Still Cant kick
Still has a body like a teenage girl

Whats the point in playing him when we are rebuilding. If anyone thinks Peake offers something none of the other young guys can they are delusional.

I'm no huge rap for Peake and I'm cool with his 'time out', but lets not get too ahead of ourselves.

Frankly Hinkley and Foster are about as good kickers as Peake and they both have smaller bodies than Peake too. Peake has better fitness is more battle hardened and is quicker over the ground. If it wasn't for the age factor and where the teams at overall, then I would say Peake, given his general form this year, would definitely be ahead of those two at least.

Yep, if you exclude age Peake would also be ahead of all the rookies except Hill IMO. Peake has been pretty good this year, being played as a forward most of the time, he probably should be getting a game ahead of Foster in the midfield.

Peake is a victim of the circumstances as much as anything. Harvey knows what Peake has to offer, Foster hasn't had the opportunity to show what he has as yet. If Foster can't cement his place in the team in the next 3-4 weeks, I would expect him to make way for the next player in line.

Well according to the Worst today, Peake has been dropped for disciplinary reasons. Breaking a team rule of being out drinking after midnight during the mid-season break. Not that I put too much credibility in anything that paper says, but it would make more sense than being dropped for straight out form/matchups etc.

Interesting, if indeed it is true. Harvey aint taking no crap from nobody which sends a good message to all involved. In saying that too, the discipline could also have come from the leadership group.

Either way who ever dished out the punishment it sends a clear message to the players.
FFS Peakey what type of bloody example are you sending to the young blokes??

I'm not sure I see a problem with that.

Would have thought that was the time to do it.

i would have thought that this would have come from the leadership group, perhaps the players made a mid season comittment to not drink past 12 during the break, to try and improve the teams form etc. you never know, on face value it seems tough, but if the players agree to it, then they have to abide by it or face the wrath of harves/pav

Seems like crap re: Peake, considering the other Emergencies (Ruffles/Hinkley) are playing today.

Sending a message would be putting him out of the team altogether, like Harvey did to Grover, Dodd et al vs Port.

yeah well either way he wont be getting his match payment, and it was a minorish offence, not like not rocking up to a recovery session or something like that. he has been dropped, good enough i think

By the way, if the weather is really bad on sunday expect one of Ruffles or Hinkley to come in for Bradley or Campbell

If so I would take Ruffles. I watched the Swans/Perth game today and although Ruffles wasn't a stand out, some of Hinkley's decision making and skill execution was woeful, even for a wet day. He really did look lost at times while Ruffles seemed confident and hard at it.

I watched the game at home in the warmth, and neither player got much attention from the cameras, so someone who was there might see it differently.

With regards to Peake, I think the move was overdue. He has been continually disappointing and if he doesn't do something about it soon he will be relegated to a long line of "could have been" AFL champions.

Having said that I would have preferred Peake to get a game ahead of Mundy. If there is a bigger disappointment in our team at the moment then steer me in the right direction. Gerard Healy lambasted Mundy in the media and the following game Mundy played a blinder. As Healy said on Foxtel following the game, it would be extremely disappointing if he did not continue in the same form. Does anybody think Mundy has been anywhere near that form since?

Hope they've got the boys in cotton wool. Can't imagine any of our emergencies being up to playing....

hmmmm....so all three of our emergencies played. Who comes in if we have a late withdrawal??????????????

I could well be wrong on this, but I do believe there is nothing stopping a team selecting a player that has played in a lower league the same weekend if they've been named. I have a vague memory of WC doing it a while back.

Very strange that all 3 emergencies played.

Which WAFL team had the bye?
Not strange at all. It happens regularly over here in Adelaide, because the club knows it won't need an emergency except in a REAL emergency. (Aka, someone going down in the pre-game warmup)

Exactly, so what happens if there is a real emergency? We go in with 21?

Maybe they could grab J-Lo out of the stands and suit him up?
