Seriously, I couldn't give a toss about the 'upside' of Wood. We are here to win a premiership, not develop players for the future. He is so far behind Fraser as a backup ruckman its not even close.

I only hope its because they want to give Fraser's body a good rest to get right and also miss playing on the bitumen in Brisbane.

Observations:

N Brown can consider himself a bit unlucky.
JA back in is the biggest no-brainer since that chick had to decide whether elephants were bigger than the Moon.
Rusty will probably reprise his role against North Melbourne as a small forward.

O'Bree is very fortunate to keep his spot and I echo the sentiments of those who don't want him to **** up our structure.
Wood needs to harden the **** up because he won't be gifted that many more chances.
MacAffer should be told if he misses any set shots from inside 40m and 45 degrees, he's walking home.

That was a perla- saw it on youtube:D

Good changes - Leon needed to be dropped - been playing like a millionaire on the dole!!
JA's big chance to cement his spot also.

Need to bounce back hard against bears

After last week I would be pretty keen to replace Macaffer. Barham's form has earned him a place, and if memory serves correctly Barham was BOG last year against Brisbane..

I would have considered Lockyer to replace O'Bree which would make sense since Leon and Medhurst are both out. But Beams and Sidebottom have both been quite good pushing forward kicking goals recently, so I would not be opposed to them both rotating with Thomas and Didak through the forwardline to compliment the talls.

I really dislike O'Bree as a footballer. I know its a terrible thing to say, but I can honestly not see what he adds that someone else can't add, better, and do more.

He is slow, unaccountable, a poor kick etc. It really has always irritated me (especially this season when they are so many better options) that he stays in the side.

But I finally figured out why hes in the team for myself. I was out the night after we lost to Geelong and a few of the boys were (O'Bree, L. Brown, Lockyer, Fraser, N. Brown, Beams, Reid + S. Byrnes, Hawkins, Kelly, Ablett) and out of all the ones we talked to, including Ablett, O'Bree was the most charismatic. He was easily the nicest and the most approachable (in fact he approached us) and the guy who everyone seemed to get along with best.

Malthouse obviously gets sucked into O'Bree aswell, and feels like there is some sort of emotional connections, and thus plays him, without any reason too.

It is super annoying that being a "nice guy" gets you a game at Collingwood.

Great solid defence.

Will be interesting to see how this forward line functions the 2nd time round.

Re: squads, ins and outs Vs Brisbane

All the evolution in the world couldn't help you when it comes to getting a thread up before dave.

People forget how badly Fraser was playing this year.he needs a month of good form to get back in the seniors

Wood hasnt been great, but no where nearly as bad as fraser.

Form definitely plays it's part, but the fact he can hardly extend his leg anymore probably also hurts his chances.

Re: squads, ins and outs Vs Brisbane

He's focusing on his bowell movements... and bigfooty is the only way, which is fair enough.

The knife should have cut deeper. Barham deserves a chance and a swap for O'Bree would have injected run and pace. Fraser is in better form than Wood, but maybe the reasoning is that Wood will want to show his old club what they lost! One more ordinary week, and I will declare him the reincarnation of Guy Richards.

Macaffer has not played all that well this year. He had no form in the VFL when he was promoted, and getting 15 possessions against 30 from Chapman, with Chapman given votes for his game, is not my idea of restricting someone. He is lucky to be in the side.

Agree with J. Springer.

Wood's form hasn't been as bad as is made out, and Fraser's early form certainly does not warrant Wood being booted out.

It's not as though there are a plethora of 2nd ruck options for us. It's Fraser, Wood or bit parts from Dawes. I don't imagine that the club is interested in risking knee injuries with our tall forward stocks.

I'm all for form, but Fraser has not shown any, and on that basis Wood should be played until dislodged by a decent VFL performance from Fraser against a decent VFL team.

He must sit and surf so to speak. I've done it before.

Gee, reading this thread you'd think Obe was Collingwoods version of Jake King.

The talk of him getting a game over the years for being a good bloke is laughable. He's clearly been in our best 22 prior to this year without Beams, Sidebottom (1st years), Ball, and Wellingham finding his feet..

He may not be in our best 22 at the end of the year or when we have a full list to choose from but he's hardly the worst 23rd-27th player on a list.

Been a solid contributor for a long time and still can offer the side depth when Medders, Leon and Dick not in the side and Swanny and Ball maybe a little sore.

Go Obe, it may be your last year but I hope people don't forget your contribution.

Note: Have never been the greatest fan of Obe, but never thought there were better options in the two's until this year.

OBE is Passed it and giving games is not really the best for the side

like the changes for this week, obree can stay because the brions dont exactly have the quickest midfield...however i wouldnt have minded us exposing that fact with barham

Good to see him still in the emergencies though, he must be close.

Glad to see presti, overall i think its one week late though with his inclusion. and JA back, i hope the 3 tall forwardline can work well

You just gotta put some trust in that battery.

Yes but we must persist with Macaffer. After all he is only 5.

This team is getting very close to best 22 IMO. From this team-

In: Dick, Medhurst & a fit Leon (all small forwards:confused:)

Out: O'Bree, Caff & ????

??? hasn't been going all that well either.

Macaffer was never going to be dropped, he is tracking perfectly. No need for knee jerk reactions, slot those two last week and he was one of our best. It's a fine line.
