Maybe Medhurst for N Brown if Medders comes up.

It's meant to be wet.

yep if it raining not having wood will be a good thing, and i still dont see a match up for brown tbh

I really do hope that Wood comes in, Jamar is no slouch in the ruck and will push Fraser all day.
when pushing forward around the ground fraser will be better

Int: Nathan Brown, Martin Clarke, Steele Sidebottom, Cameron Wood

Em: Paul Medhurst, Ben Reid, Cameron Wood

Wood has to play, I mean anyone who the selectors think is that talented that he needs a "clone" of himself as an emergency just in case, should play.:p

Seriously though, If Wood is out and Toovey is supposed to be the 4th bench player, then I believe they have selected the right side. Even Leigh Brown can go with Paul Johnson in the ruck, and will slaughter him around the ground.

Melbourne have only one effective ruck, so leaving Wood out makes sense, and to be honest he didnt do too much after his ruck work last week.

As a backup ruckman he is in the side FOR his ruckwork.
I'm starting to think the selectors have a policy of; "never do anything more than break even in the ruck." As good as fraser is around the ground he is only just above average in the rucking stakes and we only seem to play 2 rucks against the good rucking teams. We have been winning the battles of late and would have schooled Melbourne in the ruck this week.
MM's attitude seems to be "we can do ok with only fraser so that is enough." It should be; "their rucks are crap so lets play 2 rucks and make sure we give first crack to our mids all day. Let's absolutely smash these blokes."
Disappointed..

Glad Toovey (seems) to not have been dropped; has been in good form.

final teams have been announced on the collingwood site...im not sure if its been posted but i though i would anyways

Collingwood
B:
Harry O’Brien, Simon Prestigiacomo, Shannon Cox
HB: Nick Maxwell (c), Leigh Brown, Sharrod Wellingham
C: Brad Dick, Tarkyn Lockyer, Dale Thomas
HF: Scott Pendlebury, Travis Cloke, Leon Davis
F: Alan Didak, John Anthony, Heath Shaw
Foll: Josh Fraser, Dane Swan, Shane O’Bree
Int: Nathan Brown, Martin Clarke, Steele Sidebottom, Cameron Wood

Em: Paul Medhurst, Ben Reid, Cameron Wood

In: Travis Cloke
Out: Cameron Wood

i dont get it, why drop wood when a) he's been in good form, b) were up against jamar and johnson unlike in round 2 and c) if this means that we push l. brown into the ruck again, it will undo all the good work against port

the dees have brought in robbo and watts...so why wouldnt we bring reid in...confusing changes for me

I read on a melbourne thread that it's meant to be toovey on the interchange bench, not wood...

What would it take to see Travis Cloke in the reserves? He has been horribly out of form throughout the season to this point. Seven goals in seven games is just not good enough for a key position player.

Statistically Cloke is lower in kicks, disposals, marks, inside 50's, goals and has given away more free kicks than he has in previous seasons('07 & '08).

Trav should be earning a spot in the starting 22.

^ i completely agree
trav hasnt earned a spot in the best 22
on form i think it should be bryan or dawes...at least they seem to be performing at vfl level

Yep, completely agree that Fraser is better around the ground, yet Jamar has the ability to annihilate Fraser in the ruck, especially later in the quarter where Josh is slowing down from rucking the whole quarter if Wood doesn't come in.

jamar has his ruck work greatly over rated, he wins taps to no one or nothing

Rucks will have little impact if it is wet. Cloke is no certainty either IMO.

The conditions are made for dick and sidey.

As for Rocca... I think Mick would have seen against St Kilda that he still draws a crowd...

I imagine they are trying to get him as fit and healthy as possible for the second half of the year.

Stupid selection, L.Brown is a crap backup ruckmen and Wood was finally putting it together and what does get rewarded with? being dropped.

L.Brown had no position this week with Cloke coming back in, even with his good game last week he needed to be dropped.

L.Brown is not the future, Wood is. Disappointing.

Indeed a dilemma. Both need time in the seniors to make the next step up or down. Cloke means we dont need both. Both were good in the WC game. Neither were consistent at the ball ups against Port. Brown was a far better onballer around the ground. He played his best game for the Pies. In one Best list he was rated second to Swan!! I was really impressed with his one percenters. His listing at CHB is nominal. His main role will be as an onballer giving help in the backline. We currently dont have a legitimate backup ruckman.

IMO Wood needs to dominate in the twos before he can become part of the regular 22.

Reckon that there will be a late change. Maybe Medhurst if he pulls up and its wet and we are too top heavy. Reckon that there isnt a matchup for N Brown.

Its disappointing for Wood, but i guess that the idea is that Fraser/L Brown can better the Melb ruck and be better at pushing forward.

Also makes Wood realise that hes gotta work his way into the team.

Ive given up trying to work out the Pies line up each week.

In one Best list he was rated second to Swan!!

I put him first. He was one of 2-3 people keeping us in the game in the first half with awesome tackling, great pressure, and numerous goal assists + a goal. And he didn't disappear for the second half either. An enormous effort considering how bad he's been in the past. Swan had a bunch of possessions but didn't really hurt Port with most of them.

Anyway, Leigh Brown played the best game I've ever seen him play, Wood has strung together 2 good games (his best for the club being 2 weeks ago and he followed it up in reasonable fashion). Cloke has played NO good games for the club. Should have put him in the 2s and kept Brown and Wood.

Although if it IS raining, the decision does make sense.
