Barham! Shame to see Ball out but if he needs a week off nows a good time. Really hope O'Bree doesn't make it in again, we all know what's going to happen, no sense pretending it might go differently this time.

MELBOURNE v COLLINGWOOD
Melbourne
B: Clint Bartram, Matthew Warnock, James Frawley
HB: Cameron Bruce, Jared Rivers, Jack Grimes
C: Colin Sylvia, Jack Trengove, Tom Scully
HF: Neville Jetta, Matthew Bate, Lynden Dunn
F: Brad Green, Brad Miller, Aaron Davey
Foll: Mark Jamar, Brent Moloney, Jordie McKenzie
I/C (from): Colin Garland, Cale Morton, Jordan Gysberts, Nathan Jones, Jack Watts, Paul Johnson, Jamie Bennell

In: Johnson, Dunn, Frawley, McKenzie
Out: James McDonald (hamstring)

This team looks a fair bit quicker than ours, and last time their pace almost won them the game.

I hope we pick the quicker guys off the 7 man interchange.

Shame Sylvia and Frawley got up. Jones might still miss on the extended bench. McDonald is a blow, but any more than Ball for us? Doubt it.

There is if he's played on-ball instead of the half forward flank. And with Ball out I don't see why he wont.

Good to rest up Ball, no way he can last a season with his history.

BJ looked sore last week, he wasn't running well.

Nate Brown has no position with Melbourne's small forward line, but he needs to play consistently well to get back in, his AFL form has been poor for 2 years.

Thats my feelings too. Hopefully they've learnt their mistakes from last years finals series.

I dont care even with Ball out i dont want to see obree play he just doesnt deserve to get a game atm. I hate when Mick brings players that havnt warrented a spot such as Obree and Goldsack this week. Ball being out doesnt mean Obree is the perfict player to come in for him. We can just put Beams in the same position Ball played and Barham could play Beames original position.

if Barham plays, will this be his last chance to show that he can hit a target (without any opposition pressure) by foot? surely his tackling ability can only take him so far

If Dawes come back in, does that mean Leigh Brown goes out? surely we can't play with 3 big forwards?
[fingers crossed.... DONT TAKE OUT MEDDERS:eek:]

Brown has no obvious matchup down back either.

asking from more a supercoach perspective, but when will the final sides be announced seeing how this is a Monday match?

Thinking of downgrading for Gysberts however concerned that he is on an extended bench.

Melbourne and Collingwood will name theirs at 4pm AEST on Saturday.

So past the SC or DT deadline, which makes sense, as final sides are usually named 2 games before a match.

Oh O'Bree is in again :( So Pendles back to the HFF again

With Ball out why do you think Pendles will go back to the HFF? Pendles and O'Bree will be our on-ball brigade.

Yep fair enough :o It's just everytime Pendles plays in the same team as O'Bree he gets pushed to the forward line. Just love him playing in the guts the whole match. He's a superstar when playing there :D

In: Jaxson Barham, Chris Dawes, Tyson Goldsack, Tarkyn Lockyer, Shane O’Bree

That should keep just about everybody happy.

To be fair Johnson wasn't all that crash hot last week. A rest might be what he needs to get back to the form he was in earlier. I reckon if it says Ball has a groin problem he's not being rested either, it probably really is bothering him.

I don't think Melbourne are that good that if we don't field our absolute best 22 we'll lose either. They jumped us first time, they won't let it happen again, Melbourne are not Geelong or St Kilda.

Resting Ball and Johnson?

So basically, we're not taking Melbourne seriously AGAIN.They never learn.

On the plus side, Goldsack may come in. I SO hope he comes in.

It says they are injured, so probably best you don't just make stuff up.

Gysberts will be playing you would think, from a SC perspective

Well as long as YOU believe they're injured, then that's all that matters.

I find it incredibly coincidental how our unimportant/less gifted players never get 'injured' before games against lowly sides.

They're not going to admit to resting ball and johnson. But that's what they're doing.

Yes it will be interesting..we'll be watching them much more closely this time, unlikely to underestimate them again.

But they are a very speedy team, they don't fear us, they play us with confidence and last time were unbelievably skillful against us.

Danger game, esp when Ball's out will unbalance us a bit ( esp if O'bree to middle and Pendles to HFF) plus there's a danger we're top heavy against their runners.
