What say you?

"If I'm the Hawthorn coach I'm going after Ryan Crowley," Wallace told Melbourne's SEN radio.
Wallace said he would instruct Mitchell to run wider than usual at a stoppage, in the expectation that the trailing Crowley would be in enough space to be left exposed.
"We're going to get you a little bit wider where there's a bit more room perhaps for somebody to be charging the other direction and we're going to go after him," Wallace said he would instruct the Hawks.
"This is grand final day, we are going to do what we need to do to win the game and we are going to try to put him out of contention in the game.

He has already lost - if I was the Hawthorn coach I'd be after Fyfe.
yeah, they are completely obsessed with our run with player, which is good for us, i guess.
also, if the instruction is to compromise mitchell's game by taking him away from stoppages, then power to them.

You are spot on. Plus if Mitchell is out wider there will be more chance of a Fremantle player running in the opposite direction to him.

It is also simply assumed is that Crowley will go to Mitchell. Reveals a little paranoia methinks, or at the very least, distracted thinking. Who would Geelong have prepared for Crowley to go to? Sydney?

Of course it's a dog act. On the one hand you have a number of 'experts' complaining about Crowley's tactics, not playing the ball enough, being anoying etc., then in the same breath (at times) you have this sort of ridiculous notion where they suggest plays to basically clean a guy up off the ball. Gees some of these supposed AFL experts are juvenile.

Wallace is not the only one saying this not much originality from any of them.

In you go Terry.

Would we be celebrating or tut-tutting if MDB in a premeditated fashion lines up and runs through a Hawthorn player, taking him out of the game? I'm genuinely conflicted on this

Plough's been juicing up on the melatonan and experiencing some of its unique side effects.

As if Terry Wallace would ever be able to coach a team to a grand final in the first place.

I like the way people keep talking about the Hawks getting rough with us as if we're a team of shrinking violets who wouldn't be able to give it back. We're a team of monsters compared to them.

I am sick and tired of the media be it 360, footy classified league teams all focusing on crowley woohooo i just hope they don't play dirty because if they do they should get done by the MRP for ever and hope to god the umps pick it up.

Spot on - last two games Crowley has not gone to the player the media at least have expected fair guess they will be wrong here as well. Also does show paranoia if they are worried about Mitchell getting bugger all of it. Obviously have a concern of getting enough contested ball without him in the action.

Crowley is just as likely to go to Hodge or maybe even Birchall or Smith as Mitchell.

Good question. If it was premeditated with the sole intention of taking a player out of the game - yes I would have issue with it - and under the current rules, depending what happened of course, MDB would face a number of weeks off at the start of next season too.

I'd have no problem with it if it happened in natural course of events in a game, as sometimes happens when a player looks to throw his weight around in a contest. And if it happened to Creepy I'd be be cool with it, frustrated, but you'd have to take it. But to set up particular plays and players to run through another player to take him out of the game is just piss-weak and lazy IMHO. It's something from the dark-ages of AFL and should stay there.

Firstly, There is a good reason why Terry Wallace is no longer an AFL coach, he is a complete idiot.

Secondly, the fact that every media expert on every footy show seems to be constantly talking about Ryan Crowley is an insight into how little they know about our team. There's about 10 other players who are more important to our chances of winning. And the fact that they think roughing Crowley up is a new idea is just astounding - seriously, Crowley is physically targeted by opposition strongmen every week!

Thirdly, Alastair Clarkson, unlike the so-called experts, will be a lot better informed about our team and will be focussing his attention on Fyfe, Barlow, Mundy, Pav, Walters, Ballantyne, Mayne, Sandilands, Johnson and McPharlon rather than worrying about a tagger. Can anyone imagine Clarko saying to Brent Guerra "Mate, it's your last game, so don't worry about Walters, just try to flatten Crowley".

Mark Maclure - idiot
Terry Wallace - complete idiot
Wayne Carey - narcissistic idiot
Luke Darcy - love the way this idiot goes about it

I'd be tut-tutting personally. But, I've never seen MDB target an oppo player off the ball and I don't expect to see it this week. Neither do I expect to see any Hawks doing it. It's not 1970.

As Ross would say... "we play within the rules."
