Its an absolute joke that phil davis wasnt nominated for mark of the year, if a victorian did it all the commentators and journo's would jizz in there pants

I wouldn't put it in mark of the year, it was a relatively straight forward chest mark going back with the flight.

Should be a nomination for the Army Award though.

Agreed, does anyone know if he has received one for this week? Also, does this mean Victorians can't vote for guys playing for a Victorian club? A bit ridiculous.

Hmm, I thought his baulk/dummy goal was better. That 60m from the boundary is impressive, but at the end of the day it's just a set shop drop punt.

A drop punt from that angle, 60m out that sails straight through the posts is so rare these days. Most players wouldn'nt have had the balls to try it - they would have torped it, handballed it or waited for a softer option on a lead.

Tex weighed it up, backed himself and did it.

Mate its got nothing to do with having the ball's to do it, 99% of players couldn't even kick that far, let alone put it through from the boundry line. I'm sorry Naitanui's was good, but Walkers was much, much further out and on a worse angle.

I was in Bay 128 right behind this kick and what a thing of beauty it was, seemed to start out heading for the left behind post, but stayed up there and stayed up there soooo long, almost in slow motion, the breeze just gradually swung it in, dead centre, GOOOAAAAAALLLLL!....and then we were all out of our seats.

Has there ever been a Crow who could kick a goal like that? D Jarman could get the calculations right but couldn't kick it that far.

Matty Robran could kick it as far easily. That goal he kicked in the last Qtr of the 98 Prelim is still the biggest goal i've seen.

that was a whopper - 65 m and went through post high.

Tex's from the boundary was sensational. Very high degree of difficulty. Thing is, the dinky kicks around the corner that dribble through tend to win goal of the week even though a 60 m bomb from the boundary line arguably requires more skill.

That's true. I could go down to a footy ground and dob 10 of those grubbers that curl back, but i doubt i could nail a 60m bomb from the boundary line on the wrong side of the ground.

Agree, those dribblers aren't really that hard, its just a matter of practice, they look really specky, but are actually really easy to replicate and get right. A 65 metre bomb from that pocket, good luck;)

Great great goal. Don't oversell the degree of difficulty though. The wind was blowing into the goals. He gave it a beautiful roost, lofting at the left post and let the wind do the rest. Admittedly not many could have kicked it but that was more depth of kick than the angle IMO.

Was never going to win it, but should have. Not many players in the comp that can execute that kick.

I too sit in Bay 128, as soon as he got the free kick I was screaming at him to go for goal as Freo already stacked the backline and covered all the space. (Can I take credit for it ???)
An outrageous talent like Walker should have the licence to go when he's within 50-60 out from goal unless a team-mate is all alone 25m out !
Against Freo Tex gave us a glimpse of his talent (but he has in the past against them) and it is important he backs it up this weekend against the Hawks, in 2-4 years he could be our most powerful weapon, even more dangerous then Tips (although different game styles).
2011 - 2020 could see Tex and Buddy go head to head as power forwards for the decade, big call, premature call, but Tex has the talent, needs to back it up though and get some consistency in his game !
