Tex rubbed out for a push

Was guilty as soon as the commentators carried on about it being the most horrific incident they’d ever seen or whatever.

There’s no feel good story about Tex getting off so it was never going to happen.

Almost a decade on so probably time for me to move on but Trent Cotchin played in that ‘17 grand final because the AFL wanted him to play, can’t have superstar players missing big games, felt good.

They do what they want.

And yeah I’d be happy for Tex to miss a game if they’re truly trying to remove this from the game but like most things it feels like they just pick and choose one case to set an example and look the other way every other time.

Contact to his head. Medium impact apparently, but no controversy about the Bulldogs not doing proper concussion tests? Like the one where you’re not sure if the player is concussed, but they get a head knock and you’re supposed to wait 20 minutes or whatever to see if there are any delayed symptoms?

I think you’ve nailed it. The tribunal just decides what the best story is.

I was expecting this outcome. However, my contempt for Christian, this tribunal process, and the AFL in general can't get any more absolute just because of this one incident. They are an amateur tin pot organisation and always have been since they rebranded from the VFL to get all of the Victorian clubs out of virtual bankruptcy.

That's all I want, if the AFL want to suspend that action fine but call attention to all of the pushes so far this season that have been unsighted.

Michael Christian has an obvious vendetta against us
I have said this for years. He has sought to hit us harder than anyone else when he gets to rule. The club should have gone hard at the AFL on previous occasions to get rid of him from that position yet here we are having to swallow another inconsistent decision going against us but not other sides. I wish our club would get nasty with the AFL along the lines that Eddie Maguire would have for Collingwood. VFL C**ts

I heard a whisper that the AFL Integrity Committee are absolutely seething about the inconsistencies here and the whole process will be coming under heavy scrutiny

Needs to go back to a Match Review Panel.

It'll still have issues, but having one person decide outcomes is hugely problematic, especially when they have clear biases.

Pretty obvious that this would be the outcome. Walker did the thing, so we were on a hiding to nothing trying to argue that he didn't. As usual, the problem is that similar incidents occur all the time and get let go. It's like the Rankine ran too far argument - yes, if you check, he ran further than 15m... but that happens multiple times per match and is never called. Well, we've seen multiple similar incidents just this weekend, but Walker's is the only one cited. It makes it tough when you're not allowed to argue on precedent! The AFL really only cares about the appearance of impropriety, not the reality. As soon as it was highlighted with clear vision and a narrative was set by the commentators on the night, Walker was done.

Mind you, I really don't understand Culshaw's argument. "It's impossible looking at the point of impact for Dawson to have contacted O'Sullivan high." What???? We've all seen the footage mate, O'Sullivan's head goes directly into Dawson's midsection. The contact explicitly occurs high. Why would you try to argue that? That's a losing argument out of the gate. You might as well have tried to claim that Walker wasn't even there and O'Sullivan just slipped on a banana peel.

The strength of contact is not part of the adjudication process for whether an HIA is required. It's based on the subsequent reaction/behaviour of the player.
? Did the afl not make a song and dance about having independent doctors looking at vision live and replays for any significant head contact?
