Newton is depth and nothing else. Harsh but an honest assessment. Michie very similar. Both have done noting to piss me off and i dont hate them, it is what it is.

He won't be replacing Petracca, Kennedy or Kent anytime soon. Brayshaw and AVB can play the same role for us better also, even Harmes does. (half forward flank, he won't be breaking into our midfield either)

I'm not completely sold on Mitchie, but i like Newton. Feel he has something to offer us long term

Not gonna bother writing off young players, especially if the culture keeps changing. Happy Newton is finding some form, I'd honestly forgotten about him.

Newton has an eye for goal but he isn't a good enough midfielder for mine
However 38 touches is promising

Good too see ANB consistent again obviously needs to work on something down at VFL level cause he doesn't have a problem finding it

Weid has kicked 13 goals from 4 games, to put that into perspective Paddy McCartin had 14 from 8 last year, Darcy Moore had 5 goals from 6 games, Tom Boyd 14 from 7. He's out doing all these other highly rated young forwards that are getting games and I'm happy to keep him at Casey developing than throwing him to the wolves.

It's really pleasing to see him play well early on, even if it's mainly been when we're having big wins.

I'm happy for him to stay there and build, I have trust in the club now to blood players at the right time.
Yep no rush at this stage which is a great luxury to have

MFC employed Plapp to coach at Casey to make sure the game style aligned. Better for development all round.
Yep. We struggled with it a bit last week though lol

Weideman is still quite slim.

I'd be happy for us to wait and debut him in a couple of games next year.

Realistically, he's 3 or 4 preseasons away from having an AFL body.
He's not THAT slim mate

It takes a long time for skinny KPPs to get an AFL body. They aren't all built like Hogan.

I have no expectations on him for this year or next, other than the hope he will be working hard and earn a couple of token games for the sake of experience.
I'm aware. But I'm going to take the judgement of someone who works on his body on a regular basis :)

Darcy Moore does alright despite being a rake, size isn't the be all end all.

So when does Roosy partake in the Weid? Similar to O-Mac last year maybe, last 2 games?

As ridiculous as this sounds, probably depends if we are still a chance for finals then. It'll be interesting to see if his form warrants a game in the latter third of the season (ie; completely dominating VFL ~5 goals a game) if Pederson gets injured or badly out of form.

Exactly right. He clearly can compete against bigger bodies and is in form. I don't think there is any reason why he wouldn't debut this year tbh. I think it will depend if there are injuries. If two of Pederson/Frost/Hogan/Watts go down injured at any stage, then I can see him playing. As of right now, our decision to give up our 1st rounder next year for this guy is looking better and better by the week! Actually, the whole drafting and trading from last season is looking incredibly crafty. BenKen looks better than everyone anticipated. Bugg although sloppy by foot at times looks a real inspired pick up. And tbh, I still think Melksham will be very very handy, and at worst real solid depth. And our drafting is also looking better by the week. Oliver looks a jet, The Weid is smashing it in the VFL and could be anything in the future, Hullett could be anything and will likely be really handy forward depth, King was absolutely needed and filled a void as ruck depth(and by all reports looked really good leading up to his knee), and Wagner is looking like a really inspired choice from the rookie draft. Incredible draft and trade period by the MFC...

I reckon Collingwood would rather have competent senior tall forwards with Moore developing in the VFL though. Think he's only played as much AFL as he has through necessity. We're in a very fortunate position where Weideman can learn his trade, by and large, away from the public eye and can debut when he's ready which I think will be late season and only for a couple of games.

I think the point was more that darcy Moore is about weids size, and is already playing so weids is in no way 3 or 4 years off
