There is strong very reliable mail that earlier this week, the Board asked Buckley to step down however he declined. Just think this through for a moment. If true, what does that truly say about Buckley? I have questioned his authentic honor in the past but this is bordering on delusional, if true. Almost everyone with a balanced mindset can see that his current role is untenable. Probably even McGuire. Here is the chance to demonstrate a degree of dignity, if only for the cameras.

Buckley is starting to remind me of Sylvester the cat clawing onto the carpet as he is removed from Tweety Pie. Has he no dignity?

First, I'm not buying this.

Second, even if true, you could as easily interpret it as a sign of his determination and self belief. Which I believe is perhaps part of why we got here, but I dont think a selfish interpretation is either warranted, or the only one, or even the most likely one.

Finally. you sound like a Tateson sockpuppet, just quietly.

Should definitely be in the frame.

Close to the top of the pile, IMO. What I find most intriguing is that he was there through the entirety of Scott's time with us and Scott's name was the one that got run through the press...

So you post a rumour which you don't know if its true or not then question a person character based on a that rumour

Instead of questioning others character you might try looking a little closer to home

A. I don't buy it.

B. Thank **** he declined. If it were true I can confirm the mail that our board is completely braindead. I mean FFS what board is so spineless it asks a senior staff member to step down and then goes on to assure his role for the remainder of the season.

I don't know about others, but I'm becoming very tired of the bullshit flying around from both sides of the discussion!

Relax Lads

I don't need a very reliable source to make me question Buckley's public media persona. I am big, bad, old and ugly enough to question it all on my own, thank you very much. Now please don't automatically brand me as a "Buckley hater".

Go on, you can do it, admit it you're a Buckley hater, and you were doing backflips of delight with this "rumour"

Well that goes against the rumour that he resigned after the Port game.

OK mate, you've got me. I'm coming clean. I spend every waking minute hating Buckley. I hate him. I hate him. I hate him. Never met him, but I hate him. OK are we done now, you've caught me out, you clever little person, you.

PS: Didn't anyone enjoy my little Sylvester analogy. That great visual of Sylvester clawing onto the carpet desperately trying to stay in the room to get little Tweety. By the way I thought Tweety was really cute and I for one, am glad that he never ate him. Mind you, I wanted the Coyote to catch that pain in the arse Road Runner.

Looks like we're miles apart in our thinking re Bucks but on the same page re Road Runner buddy, I too wanted him caught that pesky Road Runner

Buck's says "beep beep"

The best thing for the club is for Buckley to coach out the season and then leave.

Why? Because they players have checked out from Buckley and its better for the new coach to secure a top 5 pick.

Having an interim coach to come in and play the kids will probably invigorate the team to win some games. Finishing 10-11th again does the team no good.

To be honest, my bigger concern is that Buckley coaches out the year but refuses to play kids.

There are also a number of mid-tier players that we need to find out about.

Already this week Bucks has opted to play Blair and Wells. If this is the tone for the rest of the year, then it is going to make life difficult for the next coach as he is going to have to make decision on players he won't know much about at senior level.

This so much.

If I had to say who I think we need to know about desperately in the remains of the season my priorities would be

Ramsay
Aish
Broomhead

All three I am totally up in the air about, and we cant afford that at this stage.

Then probably

Cox
Scharenberg
Wills

And opportunities to start learning about

Kirby
Daicos

where possible.

Of that list only Schaz is in the team this weekend.

That's been my take as well since the Hawthorn game which ended any hope I had of us making finals.

This is playing out very similarly to Tony Shaw's situation in 1999. Rumours are going around. There's plenty of Media speculation which is impacting on the motivation of the playing group.

While none of us knows the truth of what is happening within the football department and at board level, we do know there is a review of the football department going on and that mostly likely the coach won't be there next year.

Under the circumstances I don't see how Buckley can continue for another day. The best interests of the club would be to terminate the tenure of the senior coach and announce the appointment of an interim coach till the end of the season. Play as many kids in the team as possible till the end of the season to assess which players we should keep and who we should let go.

We need to let go of the emotional attachment we have towards the coach. Football is a business about winning. Since we haven't been winning we have to make decisions which serve the interests of the club, the sponsers and supporters. Unfortunately that means letting go of a favourite son. So be it.

Simon Lloyd looks good, wealth of experience and training, courses, which buckley didnt bother to get.

As negative as i've been over the last 4 years i always had hope, even at the end of last season i was confident we'd be playing finals this year if given a decent injury run, i laughed at opposition fans predicting a bottom 4 finish for us in 2017.

I don't feel that way now though, i've lost all hope, if Buckley some how manages to keep his job i think we're a monty to finish bottom 4 again, maybe even worse.

Don't discount Ed gathering the support needed to get him an extension, we mustn't allow that to happen.

FTR i think we'll finish bottom 4 next year anyway no matter who coaches us, our list is absolutely ****ed and it's going to take a new coach 2 years minimum to get us into finals IMO, i've been a fan for over 40 years and i've never felt this deflated about our club, this is worse than the 90s.
