Serious question. If Ed pulled it off and Clarko was announced as coach at the end of the season would those who insist on "process" for the hiring of a coach be upset?

Before anyone has a go I am one of those people. It just crossed my mind that I might not be so upset if Clarko was the result of Ed's poor process. :p

He and Horse and Roos would be the exception

But there's still process just a different one, with a rookie there's so much unknown your vetting process is higher, with an established coach your more headhunting, internally you'll discuss the options and maybe approach a couple you see as viable, have a chat with them (you don't call it an interview but it is), make your choice and make an offer.

A proper process is only needed when appointing an unproven coach. It doesn't take a committee to determine that Clarko is a good coach.

Geez Ed got super defensive on the Buckley subject tonight, just acted like a child really, amongst his tantrum he said Buckley trusts everyone at Collingwood and everyone is working incredibly hard. Said the season isn't over, and Buckley could absolutely be coaching next year.

He made out like it's just this year we've been putrid, I don't think he understands we've been on a steady decline for years now, or just refuses to accept it.

When asked what would you tell the 70k members his quote " I just tell them what I tell everyone", no mother****** you don't give the members the same brush off line you give everyone.

What a ******* muppet.

I watched this and my first thought was is this how he deals with alternative opinions or questions in the Boardroom? It is not exactly open to views different to your own.

He was extremely defensive and dismissive. He also was not listening when Dermott was trying to ask him a question on behalf of the Collingwood members and he spoke over the top of him. It came across as bullish and not particularly media savvy or respectful of either the questioner or the supporter base.

Making a statement like " we look after our own" just does not ring true with the events of exits over the last few years of players, assistant coaches and dare I say it, certain football managers.

It is absurd to ignore 6 years of declining performance as the leader of it. I like Bucks as a person and a player but as a coach he has not performed over a significant period. Members quite legitimately are asking questions and many supporters are voting with their feet. Buckley should be assessed on his entire tenure and not on 7 weeks.

As for the suggestion that the Board is elected by the members, I have posted on the loophole provision used to work around the need for elections (casual vacancy filled at Board's option and then confirmed at the AGM) in several other threads but clearly an overstatement.

Time for change across all areas of the club.

So in the week where the CEO publicly confirms that Bucks stays until the end of the year, we're getting upset that Eddie doesn't contradict him? C'mon... you know how much worse that'd make things?

It's basic dealing with the media really. Leave aside your feelings on Bucks for a moment, and just realise that if the club is not prepared to sack him yet, they can't say anything that indicates they're not still supportive of him.

Can you imagine if the club was asked about Bucks's future and the response was "yeah nah, not sure yet"? It's basically inviting the media to keep this trash heap burning.

yeah, my thoughts too,
most people say /act differently in public and private spheres.
at times over the past 19 years the way Mcguire has conducted himself in public and the media, you can only imagine how some of the in house discussions and boardroom meetings at Collingwood have been conducted

Something I've never figured out - if we mark the ball 70metres out from goal with no clear options, why do we regularly and intentionally kick it into the pocket instead of the top of the goal square?

If we mark the kick = tough shot on goal.
If we shark the ball off the pack = tough shot on goal.

Are we really that scared of our opponent's rebound that we need to play the "percentages" even in our own 50?

Oh what a masterful coaching display, 10/10 Bucks lol.

We beat a team of downhill skiers down 2 in rotations for most of the game, and the 2 were very important players for them, and we just scraped home.

It's a defensive tactic designed to keep the ball i50, you don't want to get outmarked directly infront because the whole ground opens up on tbe rebound.

You can say that just as long as you the same for the opposition coach when we're in the same predicament as GC.

Good old Bucks.

Even when we win he screws us.

Say goodbye to the hope of Sutherland folks.

Spot on going win some nothing games end up with something like pick 7 and get nothing we need.
