Something I've never figured out - if we mark the ball 70metres out from goal with no clear options, why do we regularly and intentionally kick it into the pocket instead of the top of the goal square?

If we mark the kick = tough shot on goal.
If we shark the ball off the pack = tough shot on goal.

Are we really that scared of our opponent's rebound that we need to play the "percentages" even in our own 50?

I think you will find they rather have a mark in pocket with more than likely ball up if it is rushed over the boundary Vs a kick in for them when rushed through for a behind.

I think he was referring to the good horse :)

The Bad in my name is actually German and refers to the designation of spa resort towns. So think of me as a horse spa. That sounds like a good horse no?

Yes it does, in a very bad way :)

I finally got to watch the McGuire interview from Friday night.

The man is a raving lunatic.

So he makes reference to holding certain sections of the media to account. Is he genuinely deluded? Does he not recall that he was one of the original two bit muckraking journos? And as for holding people to account? Have a good look in the mirror pal. When will you will be held to account for one of the most appalling upfront and ongoing conflicted decisions in the history of the CFC?

And then there was - “The board of the Collingwood Football Club, elected by the members,.....". Now that's an absolute doozy. How he managed to make such a statement and keep a straight face is in itself, a work of art.

This guy is dangerous.

Serious question. If Ed pulled it off and Clarko was announced as coach at the end of the season would those who insist on "process" for the hiring of a coach be upset?

Before anyone has a go I am one of those people. It just crossed my mind that I might not be so upset if Clarko was the result of Ed's poor process. :p
Clarko is the only coach that you can bypass due process for and even then he would have to have and sell a vision (which I'm sure he would & could)

what does your name "help my club" mean?
says a lot about your biased commentary.
Ed was just sticking up for the club and coach under siege, what did you want him to say? (can't wait for this).

Hmm! Suggests I'm wasting my time in responding but hear goes.

Of course McGuire was going to stick up for the club and the non performing coach that he appointed. You are right. What else can he do given the self imposed mess he has created. I doubt a man of McGuire's ilk will ever acknowledge that he got it horribly wrong.

By the way did you actually see the interview? If so, did you notice McGuire's behaviour? On a number of occasions, Brereton attempted to ask a question of McGuire but was unable to even complete the question as McGuire constantly interjected. The other 2 men, Roos and Brown, just sat their quietly while McGuire labored on like a petulant school bully. So on top of his bullying and boorish tone, the comments about accountability and member involvement in the election of the Board, was well, just a bit too much.

In finishing, whether you are prepared to entertain this or not(your call), McGuire has a well deserved reputation for being a tyrant and a bully in his business dealings. Naturally, all of this is behind closed doors. You may well have got a snippet of this behaviour last Friday night, for all to see (if you choose to).

He's a child.

I've always thought of McGuire as a supporter in the outer.. never a president. He's just a salesman with a low IQ.

A wonderful victory against the odds.

Beat the 14th side who where down 2 men by the end of the first quarter including one of their 3 most important players in May(IMO)
Gave up a 4 goal lead after they had lost these 2 players and took until the last 5 minutes to run over the top of them.

Yep , a win for the ages.........

Not sure if you can be both. I grant you McGuire is the ultimate salesman - he'd give Trump a run for his money, low IQ? Nup - Change the word for massive ego and I think you've nailed him
