The accepted logic is we calculated they couldn’t or wouldn’t match. They did so we had to pivot

Thankfully the outcome was okay but we paid steeply for it

Either way, it didn't work out but that's also mostly on the AFL's bullshit matching system to let a club, who played in a semi final, give up 2 top 10 picks for Christian Petracca and still bring in 4x top 20 picks, which included 2 in the top 5.

It's beyond a joke that one club gets such an advantage.

Unfortunately this is the worst assembled recruiting team since the shockers of Richmond in the early 200s. Led by master pyke, who goes from disaster to disaster. They were clearly on the phone trying to trade the back out again after they failed so miserably with the acamdey players

They may not have been able to go into defect had we bided properly and made them pay at 3 for Patterson.

We didn’t swap the stk second for theirs we gave it up in its entirety for a one pick upgrade

I wouldn’t match any of our NGAs TBH, the talent in those groups is far greater.

We are too far away from being okay for that list to get us there. It’s just absurd expectations

We have 2 more years of this

Surely you don't expect our next crop to take us to top 8 next year, of course there is going to be more pain. We need our top end talent to get 70+ games with 4+ preseasons to hold out a full year, bringing in some experience also helps hugely with our list profile.
I'd rather be where we are now than in 2021 when our list was cooked. Positive times ahead mate.
