And a song to sing as we watch,

Hey Matty Clarke by Kevin (Random260) Wilson :

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

If I wanted a stupid ruckman type, I would’ve bloody asked
And this half back flank and temu mid, you can shove right up your arse
You’ve stuffed the bloody order up, it’s enough to make you spew
But it’s not just me who’s snakey, SGIO is dirty too

Next time I come to see ya, I’m going to punch you in the guts
And I’ll sack the other recruiting knobs and kick Toddy in the nuts
You just wait 'til next year when you go back to the draft
And me and me little GIO come stomping through the door
And we'll say, yeah, you wait for it

Hey Pyke and Woosh you smell his breath
And check his bloodshot eyes
And don't listen to him eagles fans 'cause he tells ****ing lies
He's just a ****ing useless campaigner and he's not even very bright
'Cause the stupid ****in' w***er, forgot me ****in' Sharp

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

It's funny how it interrupted the lyrics XD

Can't be unhappy with Lindsay. Needs to work on his defensive work rate but his kicking is elite and will open play up.
Yep, saw a sizzling kick from wing diagonally across the field to inside the forward arc, a long spearing kick right on the tit!
Models his game on Pendlebury supposedly, is a defender/mid.
Looks half built already, solid. A good pick up.
Hope we get a genuine midfielder in the next batch

As far as I can tell it’s 3 per list.

In addition to these six rookie-listed players, each club can include up to three additional players (now referred to as Category B rookies)

That’s also out of date

It’s now two Cat B spots

We can add Evans and Walley if we move Champion from B to A bit that chews up a rookie spot

Right now we have 2 main, 1 Cat A and 1 Cat B spot to fill

Evans and Walley are the only two players eligible to go on the Cat B list so we need at least one of them to get through the main draft without a bid.

We’ve got picks 29 and 34, pick 1 in the RD plus the ability to automatically add Banfield to the rookie list if he doesn’t get a bid

The club now has to work out whether to use picks 29 and 34 to choose players which may or may not include using one of them to match a Williams bid or trade one or both picks into 2026 and wait for bids to come and match those if/when they come after pick 37

I don’t think either Carlton or North will bid on Williams but the Bulldogs might

Richmond, Collingwood and Geelong are all a chance to lodge a bid before 34

Right now I think we use pick 29, hold 34 in case a bid comes for Williams before then. If it doesn’t trade 34 into 2026 and wait to match a bid for Williams

Then cross everything that no bids come for Banfield and Evans

Add
Pick 29
Williams
Banfield - Cat A (alternative is pick 1 in the RD)
Evans - Cat B (alternative Walley)

I’m conflicted
I actually don’t mind our picks but our tactics are bizarre.
I think someone stuffed up the maths. Why we didn’t bid on Patterson at 3 is astonishing. If Addinsall was our target I don’t understand why we wouldn’t. And then to burn the R2 for nothing because we got our maths wrong is pretty bad.

Saying that I don’t mind the players we got but it pretty much means we gave up Ryan for nothing.

Cant believe people on here are trying to rationalise and justify the pick swap.

These recruiters are given way too much credit.

I would love to see their CV's and what makes them qualified for the role.

Most of the team surely just got a job as they know someone and this is nothing more than work experience, learning on the job from a couple of people who have the experience who also got here learning on the job.

As I have said many times before, the number of people in a recruiting team given the transparency and readily available information in this day and age is laughable.

Surely our huge soft cap can be put to better use and outsource the job to Cal Twomey.
Everyone should just give Twomey the job, he knows where most players are going anyway.

I'm more or less in the same spot.

Happy with the picks. Would like to know the thought process behind the 2nd round trade and if they genuinely made an error with their calculations in regards to the bid.

It's all done now but still curious.

The pick swap was meh, The lack of bid of Patterson though was the one that bothered me.
Either way though, can't change it now. no point whining over it.

Would have loved Sharp to slip to our pick but wasn't to be. Not overly bothered though as he is a complete Essendon nuff.

Also if the draft and Trade period plays out like we hope it could end up with:

Duursma - Mid/Utility
Charlie Banfield - Mid/Wing
Koby Evans - Mid

including Schoenberg, Dev Rob and Macrae via SSP.

Overall, pretty happy with the players we got tonight, in the end it's players that win matches not picks.

what makes you qualified to judge whether they are qualified for the role?

what transparency do you want? They work on low wages as it's their passion and don't want to be in media for you to pick them apart.

now, what exactly did they get wrong with players they picked?

They had pick 1 & 2, Simple Jack couldnt get it wrong.

They had little ingenuity to trade up from their 3rd pick where other teams did to get in front of us, and before you say we didn't have the trade capital, we had two F2's, once of which we gave away for nothing to reach for a mid that we will likely not hear from in the next 3 years unless you are following the Suns magoos, until our recruiting team doubles down in a few years times and tries to justify their incompetence and pays top $ to prize him from GC for 'lack of opportunities in a team with a very strong midfield'.

Luckily they saved themselves through incompetence and were forced to make the safe play in the 3 minutes they were allocated while trying to trade down for a clue at the pick spot for a guy who I posted earlier has the skill set to do well at the AFL level, rather than reaching for the 10th best mid, which is a likely to be a 50/50 bust.

Absolute cowardice for not calling out the F2 trade bungle. Makes no difference who you rate higher out of Addinsal, Lindsay and Nairn. There's no way you can justify not calculating the points that GC needed correctly. If they went in eyes closed hoping for the best, then that's even worse!
How do you know they didn’t calculate the points?

First we overpaid for Baker and didn't select Murphy Reid, now we've f**ked up even more badly losing an F2 for absolutely f**k all, and I refuse to believe Lindsay was our master plan when it was clearly centered around trying to poach Addinsal.

I hope on Friday Woosha ia straight down to BCF for some tents for Harper, Kenh and McGlade next year. Precious points down the drain.

Who knows where our NGA will be next year. 2025 group was more highly rated going into this year and Harper looks a rookie prospect at this stage.
