One of the great comedies of the 90s.

Bottom was to the 90s what The Young Ones were to the 80s.

Bottom was a lot funnier though.

Love these Bottom v Friends mash ups.

Guest House Paradiso, the Bottom style movie I saw in London back in 1999 was a disappointment.

Classic scene from Bottom.

This was what true comedy was like in the 90s kids.

No Big Bang Theory or How I Masturbated Your Mother.

No cheap laughs, you had to earn your laughs back then.

Another great album of the 90s.

Hole - Live Through This

That album was released shortly after Kurt Cobain's death in 1994

There were a lot of rumours back then that Courtney killed Kurt and she stole some of his songs for that album.

The first single sounded very Nirvana like.

They backed it up though with with Celebrity Skin 4 years later.

This was another cracking single.

Written by Billy Corgan which didn't dispel the rumour that Courtney Love just rode on the coattails of 90s songwriting legends.

Courtney was the quintessential 90s rock chick though so even if she didn't write Hole's best hits she knew how to deliver them.

Saw Bottom live in London :thumbsu:

I wish I'd seen Bottom live, would have been a great show.

I saw The Pub Landlord with Al Murray in London though and that was hilarious.

He insulted every country other than England, the stereotypical xenophobic Pom.

Courtney Love (and Kim Gordon) were ooooph ugly. Kinda pioneering. Even today all the indie rock chicks are cute.

A couple of other great British comedy shows from the late 90s.

I went to a job agency in London when I first arrived there in 1999 and the people working there were smoking at their desks.

It was like a throwback to the 70s, I asked the guy I was meeting with how they managed it and he said everyone there smoked so they agreed to it.

It was like walking into a pub with all the smoke in there, it was unbelievable back then but even more unbelievable 20 years later.

Indie rock chicks were pretty cute back then too.

I went to a bank in Harare to cash a traveller's cheque and not only was the teller smoking but he offered me one which I gratefully accepted. To be fair 20 **** in Zim at the time cost about A15c, and smoking was not so much a habit over there as a national duty.

You could always rely on the Weddos for a good night out.
This is a very 90s video, also starring the Donahers, John Platten, Stuey Loewe and Danny Frawley.

Mick Thomas said he wrote this about the kicking Joan Kirner got from the press.

Smoking was still acceptable in restaurants, bars and cafes in a lot of European countries like France and Italy when I traveled there 20 years ago.

Countries like Australia and the US had literally stamped it out but it hadn't caught on there, they were still smoking like it was going out of fashion.

Still remember these Parental Advisory warnings on albums back then.
Explicit Lyrics.
ha ha
Might have been Darling Nikki song from 80's that did it but they never liked this either.

Travis - The Man Who

This song was huge in 1999 in the UK, you couldn't get away from it.

Used to laugh at all the Poms belting out the lyrics.

"Why does it always rain on me?

"Is it because I lied when I was 17".

No it's because you live in the UK you f***heads.

Moby - Play

Was another big UK album from 1999.

That was a game changer.
