The 90s.. for me will never be topped. I was 7/8 years old when the crows came in.. perfect time to fall in love with the game and get hooked.. from day dot of the crows in the summer of 90/91 I was hooked. and to be a 14 & 15 year old in our flag years of 97/98 was special. To be able to say I was there for all those home games in the 90s and to have been there live from the Modramania days of 93-97 is special. great era and great decade.
one of my fav AFL dvds is "The 90s, the decade that delivered" a must watch.
Not just the crows games or players but to be able to have watched Dunstall, Lockett, Ablett live at Footy park when they were in town kick bags of 8-10 goals and go head to head with mods was brilliant. the players of that era were larger than life.. the players of today have nothing on them.

Agree but I think its harsh on the modern player, they are just as good except they are controlled like puppets and live in a bubble. They can't be themselves. Everything that happens these days is different to back then, the players do press conferences and are told what they can or can't say. They are very robotic with little personality. No one in the AFL system can be honest and they must all tow the company line.

You could get away with more back then,Dusty playing back then would have been incredible.

A magic time. Friday nights watching Duck smash a team, head out through a dead CBD to party at Global Village, get caned all weekend, end up listening to mate's weird blonde friend Julian crapping on about his theories on how governments would use computers to spy on us all.

Great post. Agreed.

Similar in age so for me I share a lot the same views, thoughts, memories that you do.

To see the players you did live is ****ing priceless.

Crows in that 93 season were so good to watch. Football park and those Sunday night time slots were epic.

McDermott, Rehn, Mcguiness, Mods, Smart, Hart, Hall, Weed, Anderson

****ing dynamite!!!

****ing lol!

Great times!

The decade that delivered was awesome. Loved football record video in 1993 and at the end of every season " that was the season that was "

Loved Sandy Roberts doing the gf marathon day before the big one going into 6-7am the next morning.

Whether he was outplaying the likes of Tony Lockett, Gary Ablett or Jason Dunstall at one end, or going forward and booting 10 in one half at the other, this guy was an out and out champion that will never be forgotten. Deemed the full back of the century, SOS as he was nicknamed { Son of Serg } started his career in 1985 stemming to 2001, and played in two Carlton Premierships. Silvagni was awarded best and fairest in seasons 1990 and 1996 for the Blues and earned 5 All-Australian selections. Held champion Full-Forward Gary Ablett goaless in the 1995 Grand Final. 321 games and 202 goals is pretty handy for a bloke that played Full Back. in seasons 1992 he had bags of 8 and 6 vs WCE, and 8 vs the Hawks. 10 goals in a 1993 game vs Fitzroy where he played Full Forward in the second half after Sticks Kernahan got injured. 6 goals vs WCE 1997 starting at FF.

One of my child hood heroes with his long sleeve Jumper which made me follow suit. Dated and Married the beautiful Joe Bailey, not bad Stephen. Like Father, like Son, like Grand son. Silvagni family did well for themselves.

Stephen Silvagni, hats to off to you Campione.

That would be Jo, not Joe. Small point but quite important for our father/son prospects.

I thought this thread was going to be about Andrew Mackie's hair.

Youre right mate, priceless! That 93 season we lost 1 home game to the hawks but I remember going to those games and you'd expect to win. I remember that year when we played the cats at footy park, modra had his worst game for the year and kicked only 1 goal! yet Ablett kicked 10! yet the crows still won. I have all the crows wins from that year now on dvd.. had my old vhs tapes converted by another crow fan so now and then I will put one on.. some epic games! the 90s will never be topped for me.. the only thing that will challenge it is if the crows were to win another flag one day.

Awesome! Love it!

And that game you mention, I remember it clearly. Smart kicked 5, Mods goals was a snap if I recall and you guys won by about 20 points! Either you or us kicked inaccurate.

Maybe this year you guys can do it.

David Brown and his long hair lol! Tregenza gee I forgot about him.

Crows were awesome. The league fell in love with Mods.

Had some obscure players the Crows during the 90's. Visca, Rouvray, Groom, Schwerdt. Quite dominant for just 3 years of that decade is surprising with all their talent and the fact they won b2b. Hit and miss.

Not to mention the watching the duck smash Anthony Kelly's Mrs lol.

I'd have done the same thing.

Total hottie.
