Their reserves sides?

How many games did Schace or Mills play for their respective NEAFL teams?

I know Hopper played for the GIANTS NEAFL team last year.

Is he procluded from your example?

Yeah sure, lets go there.

Schache obviously didn't play any NEAFL at all given he wasn't a father son or an academy pick so that's not relevant at all and Mills has been seriously hampered by injury, but I've still got him down for about 10 games for the Swans reserves over the last 2 years, because for Swans players and Brisbane players and probably Suns players, that's their home club.

Last year Brisbane took Hipwood, Keays and William out of the academy, and they all played at least 7 NEAFL games for their reserves in 2015, in addition to this Chol and Wagner (who's bids were not matched and ended up at the tigs and roos respectively) also played a number of reserves games.

Go back a year and you've got Heeney, Davis and Hiscox that all played at least 5 with the Swans reserves. This year with the Suns looking like they'll have their first real haul I have no doubt Bowes and Scheer will make appearances at some stage.

Hopper played 1 NEAFL game in 2015 vs his 18 TAC games for the Rebels in across 2014/15.

So Hopper played then.

And Kennedy would have if he wasn't injured if we use your Mills analogy.

And Himmelberg?

Did he play any NEAFL games?

Now that's just trolling. Well done you. I'm sure turning two million people into AFL followers (underway), helping promote and set up school age comps (underway), convincing kids to take part in those comps (underway) and training up those school age kids to elite standards (underway) is entirely feasible to drive to completion within five years of debuting. I'm surprised the AFL hasn't started a team in LA and NY if it's just that simple.
You have proved my point, thx.
You see the real development needs to be done in the GWS area. Thats where every cent and effort should be going. Not into an already rich AFL area. But its obvious it aint about development and totally about access to good talent cheaply.
Its a scam all the way.
Even Sydney, Bris and GC should be pissed about it.

No. It's not a scam.

It's a 30 year project.

Without the chances of any father/sons in-between.

Kennedy chose to play local seniors with his brothers, Himmelberg made a couple of senior appearances for Canberra. Both did the majority of their work for the Rams in U18 carnival games.

Yeah, nah.

Kennedy was injured.

He didn't choose that, did he?

How many people have played footy in the Riverina region? I've only trained with a club and played with a few players when they moved to Victoria and this concept that it's an AFL breeding ground is a bit rich. Most of the guys play NRL one year and AFL the next. The guys at our club were a 100 goal a year full forward and a champion midfielder in NSW and neither were more than average here in Victoria. The reality of the academies thus far has been some good kids picked up by their respective clubs and a few who have been picked up by other clubs who probably wouldn't have been if it wasn't for the development and exposure the academies provide. Do they provide an advantage? Maybe a little. Does it outweigh the disadvantage of being a non traditional state. Not even close......

The 18-year-old burst onto the scene later than most, choosing to play senior football for Collingullie alongside his three older brothers and also played for the NSW/ACT Rams in the TAC Cup.

Kennedy missed the national championships because of injury but was in outstanding form in the back half of the season.

I'm just going off what's on your website.

I've got no issue with an academy, I don't even have *that* big an issue with the Riverina, I do have an issue with the fact that you're the only club that can tag the cream of the crop for your own personal benefit without any of the actual putting in the work.

Kozzy and Hamish Macintosh only 2, top 20 draft picks out of the Riverina since 2000 and before 2015.

"In 2013, the number of Australian football participants in NSW/ACT had jumped up to 177,949 of which 47,888 were Auskick participants. According to the AFL Football Record this means that the only state that has more Australian football players is Victoria. NSW has now eclipsed Western Australia in participation"
No need for academies with those numbers.

Anyway, regardless of all the talk here, with the push by the other clubs happening at the moment you can only but think GWS will lose the Riverina area.

So they should. If the academies are about developing talent close to home so young kids can play for local teams, one must question why the Riverina is "zoned" to a Sydney based club. I'm almost positive that Narrandera and Hay are closer to Melbourne than they are to the eastern coast. Parts of the Riverina would even be close to Adelaide.

I agree that academies are a good thing for the NSW and QLD clubs in areas where AFL is not the most popular sport, but GWS might as well be zoned the Calder Cannons instead of the Riverina.

It seems like people would like to deny academy kids the best education they can get by stopping the ones that board the best logistical option to train and play football on the weekend. How is a kid boarding in Ballarat supposed to get to sydney to train midweek or even if he just travelled up to play each weekend can you imagine the absolute mess it would be to get from regional Vic to Sydney or further north in the space of a couple of hours on a friday night and then prepare for a game. Obviously the best thing long term is the schools in Sydney could establish a similar APS type league and play one another like the Melb ones do but it years if at all from happening.

Yeah we do because there's 2 x Rugbys and soccer also being played at the same age by the Auskick kids.

We need to keep flying the flag so they stay in AFL.

Who's going to do it otherwise? Facts state that it's only because of our time and resources that we landed 3 Riverina kids last year, despite Eddie's bleating.
