We are long past the point where it's seen as a fringe idea to suggest the AFP have been politicised.

But have they finally crossed a line as the Liberal parties carpet sweepers and what would change look like?


Or am I overly hopeful that they will be pulled up on their reprehensible conduct during this whole tragic affair and very shoddy attempted coverup.

The Australian Federal Police have admitted they got it wrong when they told parliament they briefed Peter Dutton about an investigation into an Australian businessman who was later convicted of corruption offences.

In an embarrassing backdown for the national crime-fighting agency, ACT chief police officer Neil Gaughan told a Senate committee hearing this morning that the AFP’s earlier answer to a question from the committee, which prompted several media reports including in this masthead, was wrong.

The controversy is about a businessman called Mozammil Bhojani, who in July 2018 was under investigation for paying bribes on Nauru.

In its original answer to a question on notice in parliament, the AFP said Dutton was briefed about their investigation in July 2018.
 
enough evidence has emerged over the years for there to be a thorough root-and-branch review of the afp ..... something is well and truly amiss with this agency

They really have become the law enforcement wing of the LNP.

Refer this to the national corruption watchdog, ASAP.
