Swanny is an absolute gun but he was incredibly quiet today for someone usually so prolific. The wet didn't seem to affect the numbers of Pendlebury, Selwood, Thomas, Bartel, etc.

Certainly not the first time a Brownlow winner has performed under-par in the Grand Final. Did the pressure of the Brownlow get to Swan?

It could just be a recent thing, but it seems the eventual Premiers don't usually have that years Brownlow medallist.

You mean like in 2007 when Bartel won the Brownlow...

That's why I used the words "seems" and "usually".

Since 2001 (including that year) the Brownlow medallist has come from the eventual Premiers on only 4 occasions, backing up what I originally thought.

The last time a Collingwood player won a Brownlow they lost the Grand Final.
Today history repeats itself.

Swan really struggled in the first GF last year when he had a tag. Came good in GF2 when the floodgates opened. Was poor today.

Guess the cant tag Swan myth is well and truly finished.

He has been basically a non-factor in three grand finals now. It is beginning to say something about the player. He was genuinely terrible today, Collingwood would have been better had he not played.
