Carlton with the 6th (weitering) and 19th (Jones) best KP defender.
10th (docherty) and 15th (saad) best general defender
13th best KP forward (McKay)
5th (Fogarty) and 10th (gibbons) best general forward.
13th best mid (Walsh)
Wing we have no one - what a surprise
4th best mid-fwd (Williams)
7th best ruck (Pittonet)

How are we outside the 8 again? Without looking at other teams id say our side has a more balanced statistical team than any other in the AFL.

Why do people think stats/rankings matter?

Nah, he’s a fu**en knob. It was clear from day one Walsh was a gun but that peanut wanted to try ensure that Port Adelaide won the draft and not look at things without PA glasses on.

He’s a ******* of the highest level

What annoyed me wasn't so much he thought Rozee were better, it was a fair enough opinion as Rozee was also looking like a star as well, it really was 6 of one half a dozen the other. It was how he was saying things so definitively, like "Carlton fans need to admit they drafted the wrong guy" Or "they drafted the safe player, not the best player" and things like that. Inflammatory click bait.

Now Walsh looks like the much better pick. Bailey Smith looks like a better player and even Butters looks like a better player than Rozee now.

Ross Lyon is bang on.

The footage around Murphy has been damning this week. But has been going on for a long time. Surely he gets dropped.
Drop Murphy ? not a chance this is Carlton your talking about .
If he misses it will be managed and he wont play seconds or he'll be the medical sub .
Clearly Teague and the MC are prepared to ignore his defensive side which just adds to our poor fwd 50 retention .

Been saying Williams is not working as a mid for a few weeks now...

Players being played out of their preferred position... we've been saying that since the start of the season...

Seriously Williams as a mid has hurt us big time. Setters pushed to a wing because of that move, things haven't worked for either of them. Madness to keep running with it. If Setters was on 800k he'd still be out there on the wing, it's a disgrace to this club the way they're murdering the confidence of some of our young talent.

We used to be about winning, now where about not offending anyone who is a mate of the coach or on a big pay day...

These older blokes should be willing to go to the 2's and help develop the younger talent down there. Instead, they're in it for themselves. They know they're not getting a flag so they'll cling onto their career as long as they can.

The system is shit. Why should these older blokes train their heart out? They're an automatic selection regardless so what motivates them? Then their low standards can filter to the kids...

And the kids are fighting among each other just to get into the team, never mind the position they're suited for. Bring a kid in, put him where he doesn't belong and when he doesn't perform drop him. Sheer lunacy....

Every one can see it. Ross only echoing the thoughts of most of us.

Hmmm... Dusty has been average and is 3rd ranked player overall, Pittonet also sure is not a top 10% player in the comp.

"I'm not a big believer in the whole 'make a statement' thing," Teague said in presser today

Agree no chance he drops Murphy.

I still see Williams as a mid/forward, in the right gameplan, that's not to say he shouldn't go back depending what opposition forward lines have in their setups

Play Cripps and Setters in the guts, rotating the likes of Walsh, Williams, Fog, Cunners

Stick Ed on a wing, tagging the likes of McCluggage, Steele, Gaff types

Its definately what the list needs doesnt have to be wholesale changes during the season atleast .
Just a message that standards across the board in particular defensively need to lift .
A change of game plan to a more balanced attack/defense would help as it wouldnt expose our already weak defensive tendencys so much .
But he's not going to take the chance he's a new coach at a club that has a history of sacking coaches .

I'm starting to think Teague doesn't want to make any sort of statement at any level

Bloke hasn't got a winning record to back up his statements like this either. The arrogance of blokes at this football club who've lost the majority of the games they've played/coached beggars belief.

Just watched the teague presser -- he said when you take out those older players you often lose that winning culture -- our older players would have as bad a win loss record as any players in AFL history .. but making guys earn games I'm not against - but he keeps going on about our defence but keeps playing the same culprits .. I thought we finished the year last years badly and put it down to COVID hub we had a lot of quarantine - maybe it deeper than that.

We do not have a winning culture.
Our cooked older players are the reason we are 2-4.
Looks like I get to spend another week watching Murphy shortened footsteps when nearing a contest, Betts fumble and Casboult kick at 45 degree angles.

Williams should at the very least be playing that position while Martin is injured - then when Martin is back, the two of them can rotate with bursts in the cente

Just a little something I wrote. Nothing more than a theory of mine. Take it with a grain of salt. That is if ever you are interested and find time to read it.

No, I am not any qualified writer. But I do enjoy writing. And I like to believe I have a better understanding of the club compared to the standard journalist who only ever chases the coin and never proof-reads their work.

Carlton Football Club: The One Obstruction

The only Statement I want Carlton to make is on the scoreboard.
And this is up to the players.

Betts kicking 4.0 instead of 0.4 would make a significant difference to the scoreboard.
Cripps kicking 2.0 instead of 0.2 also would help.
Casboult actually hitting the scoreboard at all would make a difference (& I don't mean literally hitting the scoreboard with a miscued shot on goal).
Gibbons kicking goals, as he did a few weeks ago, is required.

We aren't losing games because we are poorly coached or we are fielding teams not capable of winning. We are losing because our players are failing to execute to the best of their ability.

How many goals has Betts kicked in his last 20 games?

How about Casboult?

These are not one every now and then issues... they've been a common theme for those two...

Who decides their output has been good enough to warrant keeping a kid out of the side?

And don't tell me Setters not performing on a wing is on him... it's clearly not his go to, but an 800k/yr hbf has come in and taken his spot...

Putting it all down to just players missing shots at goal is wishful thinking...

Rate the way you see the game and I agree there are little excuses for missing set shot goals from a reasonable angle and distance, but do you think the gamestyle contributes to many of our simple turnovers?

Minimise the turnovers & the game style suddenly becomes genius & let's be honest some of the turnovers from some of our experienced players are downright embarrassing. Of course turnovers also include missed shots at goal. Kick a goal & you get a 50/50 contest. Kick a behind & you hand the ball to the opposition who, with the current kick out rules, can move the ball half the length of the field without a contest & even further if they set up well.

what's click bait exactly?

True, but do you think Teagues gamestyle is sustainable?

Personally, the breakneck speed he wants to move the ball concerns me. I think it contributes to the turnovers and our spread at that point, doesn't help us defensively to combat a counter attack

I am more about prevention, rather than fix
