What's wrong with this being pointed out? It is not some obscure record that they are pointing out, it is a legitimate issue.
... which is only true because of a quirk in the fixture, which saw Freo kicked out of the top 8 hours before we played them last week.

Had we played Freo before GWS beat Melbourne, we would've beaten a side in the top 8. Had the matches occurred concurrently, we'd have beaten a side in the 8.

It's like the 5 goal run thing. According to the media, Teague did it every game, but when I analysed our first ten rounds, it happened twice IIRC. It's an arbitrary statistical point overextended to make an entire argument it doesn't really make at any point.

Edit: and now we've beaten a side that's in the 8 twice. Imagine how much more successful we are now than we were two days ago based on a completely arbitrary distinction made by a pundit!

I would have replied to him on Twitter, but the peanut blocked me years ago :)
Hot tip: don't do either of these things. Ignore him, and he'll go away. Advertisers will start to notice his ratings/reach dropping off, and he'll get turfed back to the SA market, like his father.

It is only due to him being able to provoke you that he is so prevalent in the media landscape.

Fair enough. Haven't watched Footy Classified or The Sunday Footy show in years (although Tony Jones annoys me more in the latter)

Port Adelaide's failures against the top tier teams in the league so far should be mentioned a lot more but Kane is BFF with Kinkley. SMH

It's factually incorrect. We have beaten the 9th placed Dopers & the now 7th placed Dockers twice. If the tweet had referenced the Top 8, it would have been correct.

Our win last week looking better as we speak. Those clowns at Channel 9 couldn't help having another pop at us on Twitter again today

Worry about your own mob @kanecornes you spanner.

Wasn't freo top 10 when we beat them and Essendon are now...

It's wrong.

Got no idea where to put this thought and it’s probably been done (to death) already somewhere but I’ve had life stuff the last couple of weeks.

With the (touch wood) emergence of Dow and Stocker into legit AFL standard players, I’m finding myself re-evaluating SOS’ drafting/list build. I was pretty happy to give him a B - for all the obvious reasons, nailed the picks he had to nail but a huge miss in the Dow/LOB year and average (kindly) outside Rd1.

But now with Dow apparently emerging into a proper midfielder, Stocker rising above the coach/selection committee to stamp himself as a key player, and TDK continuing to show himself as our long term #1 ruck I’m heading towards a B+/A.

We need both Dow and Stocker to come good, Kennedy to continue his resurgence, and for one of Marchbank of Charlie to come good for Silvagni to get anything with an A at the front, IMO.

B+ is where he's sitting for me, but that's only because of his eye for KPP talent even if they can't all get on the park.

With an A, if that plans out. You feeling generous tonight Gethelred!? Lets start with a Passmark if all that plays out. Been done to death but the numbers apparently suggest he has put together a statistically average list across most metrics and, with a few key pieces of that not getting on the park, currently sits Sub pass mark.

He has had Achilles soreness for a while. Wouldn't surprise if now our season is done he is out for an extended period. One thing is for sure he is a tough bastard. Played sore much of the year.

Zac Williams taking an extended time off doesn’t fill me with great hope for the condition he would return in. Been the disappointing player of the year for mine. Turned up later than the others. Turned up out of shape. Saad turned up day one in mint condition. He’s played with niggles all year. Gets it 20+ Every week. Doesn’t set state records for clangers every second week. He’s an absolute credit to himself Adam Saad. Will finish third in the B+F for sure IMO.

Yep Saad is the real deal. Great temperament. Zac will come good too I reckon.

Saad has been fantastic. That flair and run he offers is something that has been absent from our team for so long. When we can get our $hit together, he will be the person starting the quick counter attack goals.

that article also locks walsh as aa...........
Yeah, not sure about that one either.
Harry's a lock for the team.
Weiters pretty close to a lock for the squad and a strong case for the team (stiff competition).
Walsh would be borderline on even making the squad. Certainly having an AA calibre year, but midfield is THE hardest spot to crack, even with them desperately squeezing mids into other lines. The furthest from a lock out of the three.

Suppose they could fit him in if they pick wingmen who're actual wingmen. Not that Walsh is outright winger, but you can say he can play there and maybe fit him in that way.

Most congested position to crack, though. You're right. I'd still have him in without tinkering with roles, he'd be my centre or on baller, but I'm biased. There's probably 1 or 2 mids in just about every team that you could make the case for.

An advantage Walsh has is he's getting the media buzz at the right time. Similar to Touk Miller, both those guys are getting the love at the back end of the season which definitely helps.

Not sure if serious. Borderline making the squad.....

Walsh is a well balanced midfielder, good inside or out option, due to his athleticism and enormous work ethic. In short a great player, there’re very few,
Experts claim Rowell & Horne are the best young midfielders in the last 15 years.
They are very good, meanwhile our Sam Walsh has cleaned up every award a youngster can achieve and set new records , just watch him move into the center stage soon, he’ll clean up there too , AA selection will be automatic for quite a few years , once he develops his inside work fully , and become an absolute elite midfielder.

I'd have him in, but he's not a certainty. It's a logjam in the middle
In no particular order.
Walsh
Parish
Mitchell
Wines
Oliver
Petracca
Macrae
Bont
Merrett
Laird
Guthrie
Touk Miller
Steele
Boak
Gaff
Sheed
Josh Kelly
Keays
Mundy
Fyfe
Taranto
Lyons
Mills
Hopper
Cunnington
Brayshaw (Freo)
Libba
McLuggage
Seedsman
Menegola
Zorko
Greenwood (GC)

Then you have to remember that they always throw in a curveball or two and worry about them trying to squeeze in some of the usual names, despite them having a substandard year, or borderline on playing enough games.
Danger (games? Always find room)
Neale (games?)
Duncan (games?)
Dusty (always find room)
Pendles
Selwood
Dunkley (games)
Sloane (games)
Treloar (games)

Now, admittedly, some of those names are questionable, but that's about 40 players without considering rucks, forwards and defenders. Plus the automatic penalty that Walsh will get for wearing Navy Blue.

My point is, that while I would expect/hope he makes the squad and be in serious consideration for the 22, he can't be considered a lock for the squad, any more than he can be called a lock for the team. Stranger things have happened.

Re: the Stocker mis-kick.

The ball stuck to his hand and didn't release at the correct time. Looked like too much grippo.
