Walsh, Weitering and McKay are A Graders.

Jones isn't A Grade and never will be because he consistently has brain explosions.

Curnow never was A Grade. He could become A Grade but is a loooooong way off it. He never got there before injury.

Docherty is unlikely to ever get back to his best. His form this year was well off. He has been through so much and sadly it has affected his football.

Cripps if injury free should be A Grade.

Williams could be A Grade if he gets fit, admitedly that is a big if.

Saad could be A Grade if he choses to defend first.

Martin could be A Grade if he got fit and showed consistency.

I reckon Jones is very underrated. I reckon he walks into CHB in most sides in the league. I think he was top for not being outmarked this season.

He's elite for intercept marks and one on one contests.

Disposal efficiency is 75% which isn't bad, could be better but it's not too bad.

Reckon he has about 1 or 2 howlers every second game but the rest of the time he's generally a really good kick. But we tend to remember those howlers.

I reckon this season he was as good as anyone at CHB, but gets judged too harshly on those memorable bad kicks I reckon.

Look I concur with you, I really do, but my point is the best players don't make these sorts of unforgivable mistakes on a consistent basis.

And as a result, in my view at least, there is a separation there.

Some of the stuff he does is just terrible, unfathomable to be frank.

It is not just kicks. There's the times he punches the ball right into the defensive corridor.
That's high school stuff.

And when he back tracks back to goal to pick up the loose ball, he often freezes and fumbles. Panics.

The common denominator here is a lack of composure.
That's why he isn't A Grade.

I'm not that confident Docherty gets back at all.

Absolutely, in a better function defense Jones plays the Aliir Aliir role and would be better at it, he is prone to a clanger but his kicking skills are very good and can be used as a weapon.

Herald Sun reporting John Elliott has suffered a serious fall and many people are worried/concerned for his well-being.

As much I cannot condone or support many of his actions as club president, I had to chance to speak to Jack several times over the years at the footy, John is/was always a passionate Carlton person who had a lot of time for Blues fans (despite his many flaws which are well documented)

Get well Jack (and I think the adage if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all applies here, sounds like Jack is in a bad way health wise, some decorum and compassion wouldn't go astray)

Sunday footy show. Review of best ever preliminary finals. Went back to the 80s, 90s. No mention of 1999…

We are sadly as irrelevant as ever.

Reckon that's too long a bow to draw.

If they're talking about the best preliminary finals of all time yet they've omitted what is widely regarded as one of if not the best of all time, it speaks far more to the quality of their analysis than it does about our current status as a club.

Bounce didn’t have it in their prelim flashbacks either….

Diesel would smell BS a mile away when it comes to football and players - he is being used as a Judd replacement -a seriously credentialled Carlton footballer there to talk football when required at Board level. Don't think he is on there as Chairman of the audit committee. Every Board needs such an ex Club great if they are lucky to be able to get one.

spot on. He ain’t there to provide governance expertise.

I would like to know what the point of this post is.

He was responding to someone who was discussing whether Docherty could get back to his best, and expressed an opinion/concern that Doc might not get back.

Obviously this is the poster's concern based on what Doc is going through. They may have an opinion affected by personal opinion. It's not supposed to be offensive.

This is a public forum. It is not beyond the bounds of possibility that either Doc or his family could read it.

So, I would like to know what precisely is the point of that post. I would like to know why that poster has profered an opinion - and opinion it is, unless he would like to share something - on another person's wellbeing. I would also like to know if he would be content with me speculating about his own health as it pertains to his job or posting habits without any consideration of his life or what he is going through.

If Doc or his family ask us to remove it, we will. There is zero malice to the post though and it is football relevant.

Do you have your own personal reasons for reacting this strongly?

When this forum is involved in the succession planning, let me know.

Does this rule out our drafting, delistings, administration, game plan, coaching talk too?

There could be multiple reasons for thinking a player might not make it back. It doesn't mean that any ill will or wishing bad luck on a person exists. Nobody expanded on the original expressed opinion.

I kind of feel like the continuing discussion highlights it more than that post ever did.

No.

I do not think that kind of speculation is fair. As for whether or not malice is required for an opinion to be objectionable, that would require a substantial segue into what consitutes objectionable content and whether or not it malice is necessary.

I think, if we're being frank, what Doc deserves from us is support, not debate as to whether or not his cancer will undermine his career.

It's not a debate. It was one person's concern, subtly expressed.

Expressing such a concern doesn't remove support.
