Mild but seriously windy this afternoon. Just had a downpour of rain which has now passed but trees down all over the place.

Edit: Just checked the temperatures and it got to 17 today, that's very mold for the middle of July in Melbourne.

Going to be a fun cycle home...

Apparently going to turn into armageddon here in Melbourne this afternoon. Currently looking out my office window at clear blue skies.

*edit: reading that back even bored myself.
Sky turned black as sin, then it lashed down, and then it was sunny and the wind completely dropped.

I used to commute a lot on a bike. At one stage I was doing about a 27km commute each way in Melbourne (the safer route was 3 or 4km longer).
Far'kn brutal on days like today, as people who do it would know. I plan to never do it again, but probably would if it meant it was the only time I could ride on weekdays

Not long ago I was sitting at a bus stop with 3 other people sheltering from the icy cold wind and rain. They were all on thier phones

It was a dark morbid cold scene out of a george orwell novel

Well I'll be damned. We had a coldest morning in over ten years here in the subtropics. 3.9 degrees. That is balls cold for a place that rarely dips below 10 in winter.

Damn, my ride is only ~5-6km and traffic lights play a bigger part in the time it takes than distance.
I'm normally warm from the gym in the mornings which helps but this year it seems to be a little harder than the past few. The wind the past few days has been a killer.

yeah, the longer commute pretty much put me off doing it for ever, even though I did it for a few years. Riding 18 to 20 km to the city seemed nowhere near as bad (der :D), but the extra ~30% distance over a couple of wet winters finished me.

It was a top of 11 here today.
Down to 3 tonight.

Currently abit above average for July.
Plenty more winter left to get some snow on higher areas.

It was -7.9 at 6.30 this morning in Tuggeranong. Normally that is the time I'd get up and get ready to go to work, but I decided to stay under the covers and sleep in an extra hour. It's the 17th time in the last 30 days we have reached -4 or below in Canberra, I don't remember there ever being this many -4 mornings in the 40+ years I've been living here.

Seems a lot of NSW/ACT is having a very cold winter.

A few places got to around -12 I believe.

Think the coldest here in Tassie was around -8 at the Central Plateau.
Although there are probably colder locations without weather stations.

July was milder than usual this year.
So far in August we have had some spring like days.
Including on Friday which looks very warm for this time of year.

Hoping the weekend is a decent cold front.
Not ready for summer after hearing about 50 degree temps in Spain/Portugal.
