I haven't batted with the newer bats on the market, but at the time the GN scoops were THE bat. The ball used to rocket from the middle of the bat with minimal effort, straight defensive pushes past the bowler would go for 4, etc. I had two of them, and to this day haven't got the slightest idea what happened to them. :)

Just bought myself a new for the 1st time in many years.

Kookaburra Raptor 650.. picked it up at the boxing day sales for $140, down from 200. Have always been a Grey Nichols man, but i liked the Kookaburra range this season so much I thought I'd give them a try.
I get everything in Kookaburra these days. Great brand. Love my Kookaburra Blade, my old man offered to by me a new bat for Christmas but I said not to as my current one is perfect.

What was the exact advantage that the graphite bats of the mid 2000's gave players anyway?
The advantage was it held the bat together a bit more, MCC deemed them illegal because the laws say the blade must be made of wood and deemed that the graphite contravened that law.

Think it was bullshit

I never bought it either, but I thought that it was banned specifically because it was perceived to give an unfair advantage.

Anyway, neither here nor there really
