Revealed: Who will host new-look AFL Footy Show in 2019

The Footy Show is not dead yet, and its new line-up can finally be revealed.
The fabled show will return with Hawks tragic Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann as host in an effort to kick the iconic program into a new era.

Lehmann, a successful radio host and comedian, is expected to join footy great Brendan Fevola as the mainstays of the Channel 9 show, which will blend football, entertainment and comedy.

The pair is tipped to form a regular panel with tennis ace Dylan Alcott, a passionate footy fan, and an as-yet-unknown female sporting identity.

A fifth panel member is expected to rotate each week, with the focus on comedians or former footballers with a lighter side to fill the spot.

The focus of the show will be less about team lists and will have a funnier flavour than the original.

In a back-to-the-future twist, the program will hold onto the name The Footy Show despite a number of alternative names being tossed around in recent months.

Fevola gave a strong hint to the identity of his new castmates in an Instagram post last week.

He wrote on the photo of himself with Dave Thornton, Glenn Robbins, Lawrence Mooney and Lehmann: “5 comedians hanging out or the new @aflfootyshow panel?”

But the new-look Footy Show won’t have any time to rest on its laurels.

The first show is tipped to launch on Wednesday, March 20, putting it head-to-head with the return of Channel 7’s popular The Front Bar.
It’s believed original mainstays Eddie McGuire and Sam Newman will not be part of the new Footy Show, but the pair will host a series of footy specials throughout the year.

McGuire’s production company, JAM TV, will continue to be behind the Thursday night offering.

I haven't watched the Footy Show since new Fox Footy channel launched years ago. And that 'new lineup' makes me want to try and remove the entirety of Channel 9 off my TV. Lehmo? Fev? Some guy I've never heard of before? My God...they should've just cancelled the whole show all together.

so instead of letting it die they have brought in lemo lol that is actually far worse than what they had before

the show cannot be saved. they need a competely new program if they want to compete with the front bar

The perfect example of an enjoyable sports show is Inside the NBA on TNT.

It combines a likeable host who doesn't try to be too funny, with genuinely funny yet insightful ex players.

That would be the best way to compete with the Front Bar. Let comedians do what comedians do.

I agree Inside is good, mainly because Chuck is so funny and he and Shaq play well off each other but it isn't insightful; they're all stuck in the 90's.

Wow, Nine rode it into the ground over the last decade but now they want to stomp on its corpse.
I’m just going to come out and say it, Dylan Alcott seems like a lovely man but he’s only on our screens due to the current ‘political climate’, its one thing he’s on during the Aus Open but why the **** is he going to be on the Footy Show?
I’m suprised 9 didn’t go with a panel made up entirely of women in wheelchairs.

I've met Lehmo and he is a nice bloke but this isn't revamping the show and Alcott would be more suited to a tennis program, something channel nine could produce separately from the Footy Show.

He is actually on our screens because he is the best player in his sport with multiple grand slam titles.
