So how do you know for sure that it is the university doing the brainwashing?
I can tell by the way their arguments are structured, verbiage and terminology they use. Stuff that sounds like it came from a textbook.

Who brainwashed the people before university?
mainstream media, pop culture, influential musicians/actors and potentially small-time musicians who play at local music festivals, other brainwashed social media influencers, advertising, professional activists, their peer group, teachers, etc.

Are all university lecturers in on this? Or is it what they believe?
It's what they believe.

Are lecturers only hired in Australia if they are already brainwashed, meaning they will brainwash others?
In activist disciplines, yes.

If someone isn't entirely across a complicated and nuanced situation, they are a brainwashed 'lefty'?
If they're espousing left wing ideology, then yes.

What was the main point you took issue with, and how did you disagree?
I disagreed by showing them evidence from a number of different sources/people that was contrary to what they believed. They called my research faulty and claimed I had no idea how to do research because I hadn't been to university. I challenged them to do the research for themselves and they would find out exactly what I was trying to tell them. They declined. Basically their argument was "I have a university degree and you don't, so you're not entitled to question my beliefs."

So they are being brainwashed at university, but they are also being brainwashed outside of university.

Do you think it could be society in general that is brainwashing them, and that it's just accelerated at university by activist lecturers?

If they're espousing left wing ideology, then yes.
So if someone isn't entirely across a complicated and nuanced situation, and they support left wing ideology, they are a brainwashed 'lefty'?

Is it possible to hold any left wing views, without being a brainwashed 'lefty'?

I think we could agree that anyone who refuses to refer to evidence or research, while also refusing to argue in good faith and getting outraged for having their beliefs questioned, is an idiot.
Maybe even a brainwashed idiot.

probably

So if someone isn't entirely across a complicated and nuanced situation, and they support left wing ideology, they are a brainwashed 'lefty'?
If they're espousing left wing ideology that pertains to the "complicated and nuanced situation" that they're not across, especially something that is as demonstrably false as the gender pay gap, in all likelihood yes.

Is it possible to hold any left wing views, without being a brainwashed 'lefty'?

So you mean feminists, in other words.

So you don't actually know?
Nor do you have any evidence?

It's what you believe based on personal experience?

If they're espousing left wing ideology that pertains to the "complicated and nuanced situation" that they're not across, especially something that is as demonstrably false as the gender pay gap, in all likelihood yes.
Again you're distancing yourself from the conviction of your earlier comments.
Why is that?

What is a left wing view that can be held, without being a brainwashed 'lefty'?

So you mean feminists, in other words.
I'm a feminist.

I'd say it's fair to call me brainwashed and an idiot. So perhaps you're right. But you shouldn't judge all feminists based on me.
Samsung galaxy s II was not a purchase I needed to make at the time.

I have evidence and personal experience.

It depends how they respond in the face of evidence.

Of it "probably' being society, university and activist lecturers?

It depends how they respond in the face of evidence.
Can you give an example of a left wing view that can be held, without being a brainwashed 'lefty'??
Let alone an one that is dependent on the response in the face of evidence...?

I have evidence of universities teaching ideas to students that are not based on sound evidence in the social sciences and humanities.

I also have evidence that other elements in society teach these same things (which are reinforced and confounded in academia).

Do you have evidence of brainwashing? Or a handful of incidents mostly from the US?

Ok. So "abortion" is a left wing view that can be held without being a brainwashed lefty...

Is that pro abortion, or anti abortion? Or just the concept of abortion is a left wing view?

I've been told by people I know who have teaching degrees exactly what they learn. You only need to go to a uni's official site to see course outlines for "women's and gender studies" to see what students are taught.

We've got a poster in this thread who says as much, a page ago:

It's not an epidemic that is taking over all higher education. I don't think anyone really claims that. It IS insidious though, and the field that make these claims are solidly ensconced inside the academic literature taught by universities. I had to engage with a lot of it during my studies over the last five years.

LMAO, I was obviously referring to being pro abortion.

What response to what evidence would turn it into being a brainwashed 'lefty' view?

No, all those people are just tricksters. The course outlines for women's and gender studies are just there for a giggle.

I don't know/care. I see lies and propaganda coming from both sides.

Oh so that's the "gameplan". Just answer his questions until they get so stupid that you revert to sarcasm while he plays dumb.
You made strong statements. I've asked you questions to see if there is depth or substance to those statements.

I've questioned your beliefs.

You made the point about left wing views and brainwashed lefty views. I pushed you on it until you've said you don't know. A fair position, but a fair way off your original conviction.

Wrong. I responded I don't know on the topic of abortion to avoid another round of your tiresome questions on a topic that I just don't care to debate.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. "I don't care"

You seemed to have strong convictions, so I wanted to explore them. Looks like we wasted each others time.

Abstract

Drawing on multimodal analysis of graffiti in male public restrooms at the Faculdade de Letras of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, this paper investigates how notions of place and gendered/sexualized subjects are discursively (re)constructed in interactions with the materiality and historicity of the public realm. The analysis focuses on the indexicalities of public signage and the ways they (in)form understandings of and access to certain spaces. By investigating the fragmented history of entextualizations of these toilet graffiti as well as the indexicalities of their lexical, graphic, and co(n)textual aspects, we argue that places can be queered since they are semiotically constructed and discursively performed. The paper illustrates how static assumptions about place, gender, and sexuality can be disrupted and ressignified which highlights the pornoheterotopic character of these public restrooms in which semiotic processes that (de)regulate gender and sexual dissidence are emplaced.

In K-12 mathematics:

Can you suggest resolutions to oppressive mathematical practices?
  • How can we change mathematics from individualistic to collectivist thinking?

This irrational progressive cult is going to make your kids stupider.

The answer: You can't.

This is the beauty of the natural sciences. Past a certain point, they are idiot proof.
