Tabs has never been the 'crashing packs' type.

I can dream :) Hopefully doing some ruck work helps him get used to body on body against a bigger guy which might hold him in better stead for contested marking against smaller guys

Although can we realistically expect a guy who averaged just 1.1g/g (#83 last year in the AFL for goals) to change the situation that much though?

No kick it to Pav rule will make a difference. If Tabs is too low scoring for the AFL you should be asking for the entire forward line to be at Peel with him.

The only forward beating Tabs average last year is McCarthy and by a mere 0.1 a game - and that is without the liability of "kick to Pav", better delivery from the midfield with SHill hitting his potential, BHill recruited and giving better delivery to the forwards and returns from long term injury in Fyfe/Sandi.

So who do we drop ?

i am all for Tab to come in but if he fail to deliver , hope the excuse is not s hill is not around. i thought logue show a lot in two afl game in his first year with his chase but he is in interchange so if tab come in logue will be likely candidate out.

If he can't beat the average of a guy who didn't play a single game last year then questions have to be asked :p

Lets flip that statement.

The fact that none of our other forwards are beating the average of a guy who didn't play last year is an issue ;)

Because he is useless and has shown little to no development considering all the time and effort that's been invested in him.

Nothing more than a good wafl player with an AFL rig.

Why so harsh? He is a developing tall forward who works his ass off. He trains hard, listens and takes on feedback and continues to give it everything he's got. He's kicked 14 goals in the WAFL this year and if he cleaned up his marking a little, something I'm sure he's working on he would be the leading fwd in the WAFL.

He's certainly not useless and he did it all the hard way, not giving up when he was overlooked in the national draft.

I seriously don't understand this irrational Tabs hate.

He's played quite a few games and hasn't really shown much apart from a few glimpses of being a decent AFL footballer. Wouldn't go as far as never playing again but he's only depth at the moment behind McCarthy and Kersten and I don't get the obsession from some in squeezing him into the side now.

There were clowns on Sat night halfway through the game calling Kersten a spud and put Taberner in, Kersten still has question marks but he's shown more in the last 3 games than Tabs ever has imo.

He dropped a mark that one time. Useless forever, despite being our most recent rising star nomination and our leading contested marker for season 2016.

No way. Logue stays for good. Only injury sees him out of the side now.
That's what I am thinking long term ( injuries) , this year he did minimum pre season. I confident he will be a star long term .

Kick it to Pav though was like playing with a hand tied behind the back, so there is a big difference in the supply that Cam is getting as the main target in the forward 50 and what Tabs was getting.

I'll go so far as to say it was just boneheaded where we'd kick it to Pav in those instances where it was obvious it was a near impossible opportunity for a mark (several per game) and Pav was no longer doing the impossible - and ignoring a Tabs who had burned off his opponent and or/in better position because he "may not" mark.

If we're going to genuinely compare Tabs and Cam, what seems the most obvious difference to me is how Cam gets himself free to present for inside 50s so frequently. And that's while playing on the best defender.
Whether it's timing or strength, Tabs is often easy to spoil, then doesn't have space to recover the ball on the deck.

I don't think anyone is doubting that of the 2, that it's Cam that is the top line talent.

It is interesting to wonder how Tabs would fare in this current lineup, where there seems to be better structure and delivery compared with last year. I'm just having a hard time getting past years of watching Tabs offering little presence.

Interesting. What do you think he's shown? I do hope Kersten works out, but as it stands currently he's not really contributing.

I certainly hope that Tabs opportunity isn't limited to Kersten coming out. I want to see Tabs play deep with Kersten and Mcarthy leading up. I still think Tabs can make it as an AFL player.
