I think Banners might sneak home the Rising star award. Getting good feedback in the media and has put in an impressive block of work

That was a pretty good listen. Much better than watching a full episode of VFL360 and not hearing Freo mentioned once after flogging the Dogs.

Or not enough?
Nice to hear some knowledge and positivity. Our trading and drafting in the last two years has been A+ and will set us up for multiple GF appearances in the next five to six years.

You wouldn't think so listening to some of the rhetoric and negativity on this board.

people lose perspective easily. It is easy to underestimate the difficulty of building something significant long term.

Having said that the selection of Danyle pissed me right off!

Very good article back from 2006 on the backgound to the demo derby and the toll it took on Dale Kickett.

He is one of my all time favourite players and he was never the same after this.

One of the most courageous players to pull on our jumper and unfortunately paid the price for backing into packs once too often and badly injuring his back.

I was at the game and clearly remember Read continually bumping Dale in the back so they were definitely targetting it.

They picked the wrong bloke because Dale could really box and could have been a good boxer if he didnt play football.

He is remembered for the demo derby rather than the great player he was.

I have met him and he is a gentleman and very quietly spoken and this episode did not sit well with him.

Of course there is an Eagle slant in the article that we started it, but who can forget Gardiner going straight up to a clearly stunned young Pav and start raining punches on him, before the ball was even bounced!

Apparantley Daniel Schell told his SF coach Sumich that we were going to be physical and he passed it onto his mate Tony Micale an assistant WCE coach at the time, so they got on the front foot.

Edit: This is a rehashed article from 2006 that has been added to the West website today hence the references to quotes from Ken Judge (RIP).

Yep that was about rnd 4 for the day and Reid was in a 'rapid realisation' phase at that point and I was pleased that it happened right in front of us.
Needed a white stick to leave the field, still swelling up and had gone from 'hard man' to 'tatty-discarded punching bag' in quick time.
I've also met Kicketty a few times and he's one of nature's gents alright.

Who is this Nick Rynne tosser who writes for The West?

First in his who impressed and who didn't he selects Walters as someone who didn't impress?

Now he writes an article giving it to Fyfe.

What a tosser.
I wasn't impressed when Sonny injured himself either...
