And this is where I have an issue! Our team on paper isn't as bad or shouldn't be.

I wonder if Ross will get another gig if Freo were to sack him.
Too bad we play on grass and not paper.

Is this comment appropriate in this thread, Mods?

Okay, serious question... at what point do we start thinking of maybe finding a new coach? If this season is another bust I think questions will start being asked... could be a good time to bring in someone new with the new training facilities and the new stadium :/
I really don't like our style of footy. Hell even Richmond look more exciting
Who are we going to get, unless it is Roos or Clarkson then who else would be better?

The game has changed. I think they are old school already too.

Keep the ball alive, paddle it, knock it on, hell even throw it if the umps let you get away with it - avoid the stoppage. That is the modern game now.

Centrepiece of the evolving game.

Seems to be what the rules have been re-written for. Take possession and don't dispose correctly is an instant free kick. So now they don't take clean possession, they just sort of do a throw/paddle in one movement.

I wonder if Hale will develop into a head coach?

I'd be looking at someone that has done an apprenticeship under Pyke, Bevo, Clarkson or Fagan

Hale is like buck under mick. Fagan is a very good coach.

I wouldn't be looking for an old hand for coach but someone from the next generation.
Would love to see Freo playing a fast attacking game and the players empowered to take the game on at all costs.
See who finds a new lease of life.
Who you have in mind ? Is the current Claremont coach any good .

The most obvious conclusion with Fremantle is that we will start to turn it around when the
coach loosens the reins, and we start to run, enjoy our football.
You can even see Ross's imprint at
Peel, no surprises we lost our way against Souths, they play
a high possession game, and the congestion style puts players under pressure, forces skill errors.
The worst part is that we worked on running all preseason, yet in games we don't see the gut
running both ways.
The teams need more uncontested play, when attacking, which requires players to play their
natural game, positions, and take the game on.

No idea, my current interest in the game doesn't extend as far as who is coaching who, just noted that the teams playing the best footy in the AFL - Bulldogs, GWS, Adelaide, Melbourne and Saints who are on the rise all have fresh faces at the helm.
The days of the supercoach like Sheedy, Pagan, Malthouse are done.

Stewy Dew would be great.

So what happened between the Collingwood and Carlton games?

One was free wheeling and hard running, the other was a stagnant mess.
The only thing I can think of was Ross wasn't prepared to accept the leaking at the defensive end, whereas I thought the leaking at the defensive end was a result of skill errors not structure and method

He was referring to getting someone like neesham i think.

Whilst it wasn't pretty to watch at times and we were made to look worse by the ease at which the Cats took the ball forward, I sensed that there was more emphasis on doing this through the middle. If there was one positive to take out of last week it is that we are at least trying to be more attacking.

If we can improve the skills and have the mids and fwds click it may seem more obvious and even mask our deficiencies at the back.

Lets see what we dish up today.

Fyfe , s.hill,b.hill ,Walters ,Langdon ,tucker ( more game time) and weller. Structure wise I think is no hope , but individual brilliance can cause upset and we do have the players .
