If Robert Warnock is going to cost more than Pick 24, do we really want him? I think the bloke's got a hell of a lot of talent, but so will the player at number 24 in this draft. We have two young ruckmen who are progressing nicely and with more game time they'll progress quicker. For mine, Pick 24 is more than fair and anything more than pick 24 and a fringe player is too much. So let's poll it

I will say Pick 24 only, If Carlton give any more than that I would not be happy...Freo either take or risk losing Warnock in the Pre-Season draft...

Kruz and Hammer will do me as ruckmen and have Cloke playing more in the forward line.

Maybe our guys are keeping the "+fringe player" option up their sleeves to break the deadlock late in the week.

Freo desperately need quantity more than quality at the minute, so Blackers or Benjamin or something similar should get it over the line.

TBH, I'll now be just as happy to see Warnock go into the PSD with Freo getting nothing in return as see him land with us at the right price.

:thumbsu: Same.

Its not the be all and end all if we dont get him.

This is always the fun part of trade week. I think the media get more upset than anyone else, because they're desperate to get a story in at the end of the day. It's all going to depend on Warnock to a large extent - if he holds his ground and insists on the Blues, then Freo will look pretty stupid giving up a pick 24 in a strong draft, with the Dees getting him for zip. Freo are obviously hoping he'll change his mind and allow them to negotiate with the Dees. Basically, they want to force Warnock to go to a Club he doesn't want to go to, so they can get a pick 18 instead of 24. Nice. :)

Maybe this very fact might see him prepared to downgrade any 'concern' about Freo and simply walk into the PSD with a high enough bounty on his head to make it through to us. :D

The great thing is that since Swann and Icke came to the blues, i have every confidence that any decision made in trade week will be carefully considered and what's best for the club. They dont get too much wrong these blokes. Trade week is much less stressful with them in charge.

The very, very outer fringe. Like cockfighting is a fringe sport.

'fringe' appears to have changed from 'fringe of the 22' to 'fringe of the list' in recent years.

That 'bounty' might get him past Melbourne, but it is unlikely to be high enough for him to make it past Freo at pick 3. :thumbsu:

Cool, so you get a player who doesn't want to be there for twice what you want to pay him.

Yeah that'll show us, take that Blues! :thumbsu:

You forgot that add we keep 24 and still have Hampson developing nicely in the ants :thumbsu: Sounds like a great solution for Freo.

Before long someone might actually start to use their grey matter and realise pick 24 is about the best option they are likely to get.

At least we agree on something
the deal will get done, pick 24 is all i want to see offered, but i think there will be a sweetener come Friday arvo and come a little latter Friday arvo the blues will hold a press conference with Warnock in his new blues jumper all saying how happy they are that things worked out.
And the dockers will be at there press conference saying how they are very disappionted and still feel they should got more for him but relented due to Warnocks overwhelming desire to return to Victoria.

I'd be amazed if we get him via the PSD. Could be wrong, but I'm not sure if the high bounty thing has worked in practice, and from Warnock's point of view it would be too risky because he might end up at one of the Freagle disasters again. If he went into the PSD, he'll probably accept some sort of deal the Dees could afford. The Blues would keep pick 24, and Harvey would need to explain to the Freo members why he gave away a 2nd round pick in a strong uncompromised draft. :)

My thoughts:

1) #24 and Blackwell is the most we should offer.

2) No trade for an unproven ruck has succeeded in recent times that i can remember:

Brooks, Wood, Meesen, etc. The only ruck trades that have come off have been more surer bets - eg. Ottens, Jolly.

3) Bower's too valuable to bundle with #24 - has shown more than Warnock on the field, but on the flipside Warnock fills a more specialist role. To include Bower would require a straight swap plus exchange of late draft picks only.

4) Otherwise maybe a third party needs to come in with maybe Setanta involved.

5) Finally, I have full confidence in our recruiters.:thumbsu:
