To be honest, come on its an internet forum. If I read a post that is shit I just ignore it.
Some of you take this way too seriously...I would never EVER be a mod. Fancy spending heaps of spare time WORKING for free. Groves has made a mint of this site and it wouldn't be as popular as it is if it was overridden with swearing and filth and rubbish...the reason why it is not completely garbage is because of moderators.
So you are sustaining his business interest through hours and hours of hard work, for nothing. In the meantime, he is earning stacks off advertising and whatnot.

I know in the past it was completely volountary.
Sure you might enjoy it, but I would probably enjoy working as a recruitment officer at the AFC, but I wouldn't do it for free.

No - we don't get paid. There are no perks at all.
I guess that's why some will take exception to being derided for doing something that is essentially because we enjoy contributing to BF.
...and I suppose to be clear - my motivation has always been to try and contribute to the process of Footy discussion rather than anything commercial
Why does anyone do voluntary work?
People volunteer for many different reasons. Working and getting paid for it is part of everyday life but it’s not the be all and end all in life. People volunteer for a magnitude of reasons.

....but that's why talk of "where the hell is Nikki, Vader and Mad Dog while trolls are on our Board" is met with a small amount of bemusement.
Sure - we need to ensure we have coverage......but it's not like we are shirking paid responsibilities.
As I said earlier - it's regrettable we didn't have appropriate coverage on the weekend.....and it's one of a few reasons I have decided to scale back my role on BF to make sure I can contribute more and moderate more.
You need some night mods and weekend specific mods.
More is better if you have a specific set of guidelines (not saying you don’t)

Volounteer work is COMPETELY different.
That is traditionally for a charity or some organisation which is doing well for the community...not lining the pockets of some bloke called 'cheif' who runs a footy site.
Why dont you mods ask for some payment? It is absolutely ludicrious not too! And you know it.
