2 of the offenders were on bail,

2 of the ones arrested have since been bailed...

Obvious Solution is ban the sale of machetes because these people surely wouldn't be able to arm themselves otherwise ?

Maybe they should ban the sale of shivs while they are at it to stop prison stabbings?

So the problem is machetes rather than our bail laws. looks like i better hand myself in to be bailed next time I slash some blackberries. the good thing is I will be back able to slash blackberries again pretty quickly.

The bigger issue that is even with machetes banned for sale anyone with a grinder can turn an old chainsaw bar into a machete in about 5 minutes.

Get these clowns off the streets rather than passing stupid knee jerk laws.

Today I used AI for something vaguely constructive.

Got Chatgpt to zhuzh up my application letter for a job vacancy - the subbing was surprisingly crisp and impressive - and then I used Canva to turn an iPhone shot of my ugly mug into a respectable corporate headshot.

(Tried Momo for the headshot too but found it too OTT.)

Let’s hear it for our new overlords.

Good luck

Thanks mate. It’d be a stupidly big promotion, basically double my current salary, highly competitive, and I almost certainly won’t get it. But I felt like a challenge would get the old grey matter going.
Better to give it a go more than wonder what if

Long rant here.

Anybody have any advice on how to complain when police don't respond to an issue?

We've got a dysfunctional set of neighbours near us. Multiple times a week, even on weekdays, they've got music pumping until 5am.

More often than not, when they have people over and they drink, or if someone (hasn't been me) calls the cops on them for a noise complaint, these people are absolutely obsessed with coming to my house for whatever reason and standing at the door, yelling threats. Always our house and I have no idea why, although my wife heard them discussing that they think we're weak targets.

When it first kicked off in 2023 a group of them were literally at our door saying they're coming around the back to kick it in. We called the cops several times and they took more than 4 hours to respond. When they did come out they go "oh it looks calm now." And just left. No report, nothing.

Last night's incident the heroes were at my door abusing my wife who was absolutely terrified (I was zonked out asleep down the other end of the house), accusing her of calling the cops on them (someone must have lodged a noise complaint). She called the police, who said they'd send someone out immediately. Instead of sending someone out, the local station then calls her and goes "we've already been out for the noise complaint". She explained them that this was AFTER that and much different, as told to the 000 despatch. They then said "well if they come back let us know" and never even came out.

Legit neighbours from hell scenario and I have absolutely no sense that police will arrive at all, let alone in time should I have to defend my family when these people go off their tree. It makes these situations ten times worse not knowing the police response makes it more likely you're going to have to defend your family, and the likelihood of a charge (and probably ruining my life) following that is too high. Not to mention whenever that music starts pumping I'm on edge and just can't relax, knowing there's a likelihood their feral drama makes its way to my front door again.
Jesus. Terrible situation.

Advice: Move to a nice area of Melbourne.

Burn their house down, it’s the only way. Kill it with fire 🔥
(Probably wait until there’s nobody home 😉)

Are they social housing?

My son is going in for major heart surgery tomorrow morning. Will likely be in hospital for 2 weeks and then home from kinder for another 4 weeks after that. Hoping it all runs smoothly and he's back on his feet nice and quick.
Thoughts are with you and your family mate, hope it goes well

Usually you could contact them as we have had issues there, council/ranger maybe?
Or, wait until 5am after a heavy night for them and mow the lawn closest to their window
Ring VicHealth and complain about abortion clinic they are running, local health inspector about the dodgy Chinese restaurant, A Current Affair/DFAT about the immigrate sweat shop and the Defence force about selling missing guns?
