Without going to the politics of it all, where in LA are these riots?

I ask as I'm due to fly over there soon and considering my options.
Riots a bit OTT at this stage (just like the federal response) but main area is Paramount which is just east of East Compton, north of route 91 if that helps. Some trouble in downtown area though as I type thats more minor than the Paramount stuff. Having said all that , presumably its pretty fluid and may change before I hit enter.. :drunk:

The only reason to go where there riots, is to score. Literally can't go there for any of the reason.

Beverly Hills, where old mate would stay... clear and 30 probably but humid.

Studio City (Universal).

Wasn't sure if the riots were central to a specific area or fluid.

Living in America... coast to coast... you'll be fine if you keep your head down and have the words "Lo Ciento Maxima" ready to go. And per favor always works in LA. Effectiva = Cash, have some walking around money handy.

Rightio all you Souh Aussies, I'm heading to the Adelaide Test in December and accommodation is ****ing ridiculous.

Looking at $2500-4000 grand for 4 nights in the city. Having never been to Adelaide before what are some spots out of the city that are ok, Henley Beach, Glenelg?

Also Gasometer what are some good pubs to wait outside of? 🤣

lol. Just AirBnb somewhere in Glenelg, eat in North Adelaide, cut one or multiples from the herd (anywhere anytime).

It's a good place for getting up to stupid shit that you don't want to remember.

Things you've never heard about ....

So am following the demise of Sheffield Wednesday on Owlstalk - similar to Bigfooty. Anyway, our shitful owner Dejphon Chansiri has been unsighted for the last few weeks while nobody is being paid, one thread is simply named "Where's Chansiri" and a horse named Shergar was posted. Now I have heard of the Aga Khan, but only heard of but Shergar I had never heard of ....

Shergar (3 March 1978 – c. February 1983) was an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. After a very successful season in 1981 he was retired to the Ballymany Stud in County Kildare, Ireland. In 1983 he was stolen from the stud, and a ransom of £2 million was demanded; it was not paid, and negotiations were soon broken off by the thieves. In 1999 a supergrass, formerly in the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA), stated they stole the horse. The IRA has never admitted any role in the theft.

The Aga Khan, Shergar's owner, sent the horse for training in Britain in 1979 and 1980. Shergar began his first season of racing in September 1980 and ran two races that year, where he won one and came second in the other. In 1981 he ran in six races, winning five of them. In June that year he won the 202nd Epsom Derby by ten lengths—the longest winning margin in the race's history. Three weeks later he won the Irish Sweeps Derby by four lengths; a month after that he won the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes by four lengths. In his final race of the year he came in fourth, and the Aga Khan decided to retire him to stud in Ireland.

After Shergar's Epsom Derby win, the Aga Khan sold 40 shares in the horse, valuing it at £10 million. Retaining six shares, he created an owners' syndicate with the remaining 34 members. Shergar was stolen from the Aga Khan's stud farm by an armed gang on 8 February 1983. Negotiations were conducted with the thieves, but the gang broke off all communication after four days when the syndicate did not accept as true the proof provided that the horse was still alive. In 1999 Sean O'Callaghan, a former member of the IRA, published details of the theft and stated that it was an IRA operation to raise money for arms. He said that very soon after the theft, Shergar had panicked and damaged his leg, which led to him being killed by the gang. An investigation by The Sunday Telegraph concluded that the horse was shot four days after the theft. No arrests have ever been made in relation to the theft. Shergar's body has never been recovered or identified; it is likely that the body was buried near Aughnasheelin, near Ballinamore, County Leitrim.

They can't be serious, can they?

Maybe Clarko should bring back Corey McKernan for a 3rd time too.

Could Guy do a Kennett and win on his third attempt?

Mutterings about Brad Battin’s leadership have evolved into open conversations among colleagues, with Matthew Guy touted as a potential replacement.

So when’s the book on Parenting coming out?

Really dunno what to make of this, but is this what social media has come to?

“An Australian influencer has been forced to defend her decision to share a photo of her deceased baby online after receiving backlash from her followers.

Veruca Salt posted the picture of her late baby son, Cash, as her lay embalmed in his coffin to her Instagram stories on Tuesday.

The post sparked heated debate online, with some defending Veruca’s decision, while others found the photo to be too confronting to be shared to the internet.

The Gold Coast influencer has since spoken her truth and addressed the torrent of hate she received in the wake of the post.

“Ya’ll come onto a grieving mothers Instagram and be shocked when you see that there is actually a dead baby. Genuine question, are you stupid? Are you slow?” she said in a video posted to Instagram stories.

“You want me to explain in detail the horrible things that have happened. How did he die? What happened with your baby daddy? . . . .But then you bitch and moan when you actually see it.

“He’s embalmed in a coffin and he looks beautiful, so you can suck it.”

Many of the people who spoke out against Veruca took issue with the photo because they claim they were not presented with a content warning before the image appeared on their screen.

A sensitive content warning has since been added to the photo, warning users the image may be upsetting.“
