Oh sometimes I get over SM'd where I can only deal with you in small doses. Sorry mate.

Please explain to me without spoilers, how House of the Dragon is purposely shot and edited so that you only want to watch the show one episode at a time and then wait a week to watch another episode.

Here's a clue, Sphynx's comment on pacing. Each episode is reasonably self-contained with large time jumps between the episodes, so understanding what's taken place and how it fits into the broader story is great to digest and consider before the next episode airs.

But continue to be condescending and pretend you know a lot more about this show than anyone else.

Anyway, speaking of House of the Dragon earlier, have people been watching? Thoughts so far?
I'm liking it a lot. Great that they're back focused on character and plot development rather than needing to stack every ep with non stop action.

I'm more invested in it than rings of power which I didn't expect. I'm also enjoying it but the multiple storylines makes is longer to build rapport in comparison.

Yeah I haven't bothered with Rings of Power because I'm not big on LotR but have heard it's pretty slow.

HotD is slow but in a different way (from the sounds of things).

I dont know why you would need a week to digest it. I mean you watch it, you understand whats going on, you watch the next episode.

But each their own I guess.

Haha ok mate, so basically what I said at the start of this exchange before you tried to tell me you knew more about a show you hadn't seen.

And in the meantime run the risk of seeing spoilers on social media lol.
I think I am a professional at avoiding spoilers. Game of Thones, 24, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul are all shows I watched years after at a few seasons of each one had aired and I never read a single spoiler for any of them.

I have been spoiled I think only once for a TV show. And the way it happened wasn’t on social media or a forum. I mentioned to a friend through email how I was about to start watching Twin Peaks as I knew he was a big fan of the series and he told me that I will love it but the second season drags on a bit after the killer is revealed, whilst telling me who it is lol. I guess it’s easy to avoid spoilers if you aren’t on social media and don’t go on any forums discussing the series and don’t actively search the series either.

I think it's different watching it years later when there isn't discourse around it as it comes out, but if he can avoid it then fair enough.

True, probably easier to avoid spoilers as those series weren’t even on my radar at the time anyway.

Nothing you say gives me food for thought. So I guess there's that.
OK?

Still doesn't change the fact that you could adjust what you say and people won't pounce on you resulting in "everyone misunderstanding what you're saying"

You take here, on topic, matchday threads. I'll take the eagles board and jump on that sword for you and head into the LFC team thread. Ewww.

*I've watched none of it but that technicality I feel doesn't matter.

jod23 you've got the AFL thread left and I'll just spam it poking fun at Eagles ;)

I wouldn't say it is growing but they are certainly vocal. Most of them are ignorant.
The data/polling suggests otherwise. I did say minority to be fair as well.

According to the survey by YouGov, 41% of those aged 18 to 24 thought there should now be an elected head of state compared to 31% who wanted a king or queen. That was a reversal of sentiment from two years ago, when 46% preferred the monarchy to 26% who wanted it replaced.

Amongst those aged over 65, 81% backed the monarchy, almost unchanged from two years ago.

It's very much an older generation thing. I think more and more younger people are aware that's royalty is a flawed concept.

Enjoying both House of Dragons and Rings of Power…probably RoP just edges it atm with more interest in the characters.

As for funeral will probably watch out of curiosity as first monarch to die in our lifetime.

That data is a year old fwiw. Platinum Jubilee: where does public opinion stand on the monarchy? | YouGov

Whilst I live in a very white middle class part of the country, my experience is that it is rare to find people who are strongly against the monarchy but common to find people strongly in support although as you say these are mostly older people. Most people I interact with are quite indifferent about it if they aren't strongly supportive. This is my view too. The royals don't effect my life positively or negatively so I don't really care about them. I also understand that some people over here love them although I think that love is for the queen rather than the royals per se so that view could change over time with Charles being a bit of a knob.

Saw a clip from the BBC that Charles used his Navy severance pay to set up his foundation, helped close to 100k young people over the last 40 years apparently.

Andrew aside think with all the projects, charities or causes they collectively champion, patron or support makes them a net positive.

They also bring a huge amount of money into the economy.

ROP isn’t really a slow burn, there’s a lot of lore to take in and I think it’s doing it well.

The last episode leaves any episode HOTD has dished up so far this season for dead imo.

It’s now gone up a level and set the bar for the two shows.
