It's funny how Mad Men seems to be splitting opinions.

Betty was so important in his life though. The final season and the final episodes and what happens with the two of them and the scenes they have together are crazy good.
Admittedly I'm not up to the final season so can't comment on it yet.

Never struggled to finish a show this much before.

Two explosions at Brussels airport. All flights in and out cancelled. People are dead, they don't know how many.
And at a train station too..

Hate western media and the ignoramus' who get emotional - Bombs and cival wars happening in Africa, thousands dieing, thousands being displaced - no coverage, no feelings
2 bombs go off in Europe, a dozen dead - large coverage, emotional.

Blah blah blah. Just shut up mate. The only one who is an ignormaus here is you.

Don't disagree with what he's said at all. Suicide bombs are going off in the Middle East all the time, but the Western media only fixate on a small number of people dying because it's a Western nation and it fits their narrative. It's terrible.

Sad day for those in Brussels, and my heart goes out to them, but my heart also goes out to those in other countries who have also died at the hands of suicide bombers in the last few weeks.

Rightly or wrongly, tragedies in the west are going to resonate more with western media and the public.

For me I was in Belgium a few months back. And am planning a trip to Paris in a few weeks.

Many Australians would have ancestry from European countries, or would have visited them on holidays.

Over here the Turkish attacks get a heap of coverage because a lot of Brits travel to Turkey on holiday.

It's just the way things are. The idea that we shouldnt feel sympathy or show interest in these tragedies because other tragedies didnt get as much coverage is a rank stupid one.

Really don't get this attitude of but look at what happens elsewhere. Of course tragedies in western countries are going to get more coverage because of their closer ties to Australia. A tragedy is a tragedy no matter where it happens but I see no point saying "but look at what happened in Libya last week".

I don't think DB or I were suggesting that people shouldn't be upset or care about Brussels, just taking issue with the Western media who will now focus on the Muslim aspect of this despite Muslims being hugely persecuted and dying by their hundreds in the Middle East.

99% of Muslims are normal people like everyone else, the very small majority ruin it for all of them and western media purports that perception.

Sorry Cruyff but Dirty Bird has a good point, could have been more tactful but he did have a point.

There's a poster on my club board who bemoaned my club getting $10m in donations to rid the club of debt, yet having moved to Timor I believe, was upset that we could give money so readily to an elite sports club yet couldn't give a stuff about people where he is not having running water or electricity in some parts.

Sadly for society these injustices, indifference and lack of awareness and exposure for 3rd world countries problems is far too common. DB had a perfectly valid point in a similar vein.

Trying to make people feel guilty who are sickened and shocked by this is a pretty shit thing to do. I don't understand why people do that. Of course there is going to be more coverage when it happens in the west - because it is an attack on all of us, and whether you agree or not, it's closer to home in terms of our way of life and therefore resonates more. Doesn't mean people are any less appalled by bombs going off in places like Iraq though - but inevitably you become slightly immune to it as it happens so frequently.

All I know is people should try and stick together and show some solidarity during these times.

Dirty Bird had a point though. Like when the Paris attacks happened and every moron changed his FB profile pic to have the French flag in it.

It was tragic, people died and it sucks. But the atrocities that go in Africa and the Middle East are far worse but you dont see ppl putting the flags of countries like Isreal, Iraq, Syria, Congo, South Africa, Sudan, Nigeria etc...

It's horrible what's happened in Belgium too of course. The western world is often so blind though.

I have people on FB who shit me with stuff that happens about the whole refugee crisis and people pouring out of Syria seeking asylum. People saying send them back, they are not welcome.

Send them back to what? To this?

Does that look like a place you can just go back to.

People are stupid.

Yeah DB and SM are right on this one. There's been multiple attacks in Turkey and was the eiffel tower lit up red with a white crescent? Or blue yellow and red for Congo?

Also my comments aren't a dig at us more the media and governments. They're in a position to know everything that goes on in the world yet they value certain tragedies higher than others

In fairness I agree with not having open borders. Europe is now reaping what it sowed from opening its borders.
