Oh, I am friends with my team. We get along well and chat a lot during work. We all know about what is going with each other. We have about 20 people on our floor - with two separate teams. Some go for lunch at 12, the others at 1 (to cover phones).Yeah that's fair enough just keep in mind networking is a huge part of your working life. You'll be surprised how much gets discussed at lunch or over a trip to the coffee machine. Depending on how big your workplace is there are people you might not even see during your working day if you stay at your desk.
For example, where i work is on the opposite side of the floor to the Directors, Associate lawyers and other legal teams. During the day i wouldn't see them as they have no reason to come to my side and vice versa but at lunch quite often they'll be in the lunch room. This is where you can talk to them, have a chat and they can put a name to a face for future reference. Just being around puts you in people's thoughts.
"That Cruyff guy? Nar no idea who he is never seen him" or "yeah he just keeps to himself don't know too much about him"
"Oh Shoei? over in such and such? Yeah i've seen him about and had a chat, nice guy. Actually that reminds me he mentioned he was interested in such and such and we need someone to help with......"
Not saying that's how you are just something to remember!
Like people know about me, what I like etc. I go sometimes, just prefer to be alone lol.
