The Official 2011 NBA Draft Thread

I do not like to trash kids who are not proven in NBA, but i feel Knicks had a lot of better options. We might of picked up the most un-athletic center i've heard of, simple that he will struggle in the NBA without some drastic improvement

eddy curry sez hai

Knick provide so much win.

SO MUCH

THIS!!

Im one of those rare breeds who thinks Iman was a correct pick in the long term, 6'5" point guard who can defend, plenty of athletism. New York fans should be blowing a load at the prospect of someone who can defend.

yeah Faried would be nice, but we have enough offensive weapons, we need a Center/ Point guard, went the latter.

We're obviously going to gun for a big man in free agency/trade for one out of favour,

However im going to say this will be lost on a lot of fans, and madison square garden will burn down once Faried hits his first Double Double

Im happyish, could of done better, could of done a lot worse. Remember it was a fairly shallow and weak draft, worth trading for a out of sorts Center already around

Im going to say that Harrelson will not make it, i will be absolutly suprised if he does

We got guys who can Finish, Amar'e and Anthony are two of the best offensive players in the league, we need to have guys who'll trouble offenses, currently we have fields and Amar'e when he's in shotblocking mood.

Also, Please dont bring up Curry, the Pain:(

could have had Faried or Singleton. Dont know what the fk we were smoking.

somehow we need to trade and get something. Hopefully the cap goes up and we can bring someone in.

Should check out the Knicks forums. Meltdown doesnt give it justice

Pfft Faried didnt even wanna play for you guys :P He has now found himself in the perfect situation.

Would have loved Faried, as well as keeping Hamilton, but I'm growing on Felton/Smith. Felton was the guy I wanted all along and we got him, so can't complain
Now, anyone want Patty or Armon Johnson?

Im pretty sure he would have wanted to stay home but good luck to him in Denver. Going to be a stud

a guard who can defend with athletism? that was Singleton. Singleton is a way better defender and has better athletism. He is also a better shooter. This is why Knicks fans went nuts. The Knicks have Jerome Jordan this year so thats why they didnt take a big 1st up but Iman was the wrong guy without a doubt. I hope he becomes a good player for us but i cant see him getting many mins and more then likely he will be used in a trade. Thats how our 1st picks role.

Also Faried isnt that good offensively, its his defence which is awesome and work ethic.

Singleton is 6'9" Not a guard

And i have to strongly disagree with Singleton being a better athlete then Iman, a 36.5 standing verticle leap is massive.

However, lets hope im right i guess.

Thought i read somewhere he was saying he didnt want to play there because it was too close to home and the distractions may be too much for him.

We've also been targeting Morehead State's Kenneth Faried as a potential Knick. However, there's a serious question about whether Faried wants to go there. Faried is from New Jersey and apparently is worried that being too close to home could be a distraction for him. The Knicks are worried, too. It takes the right sort of player to make it in New York. Faried might not be the best fit.

He can play guard and has done and we really dont need a PG this year. Next season we will get Paul, i have no doubt, and Douglas and Carter can backup Chauncey for the season. Would have loved another defensive big man or Singleton.

I hope he doesnt become another typical 1st round bum we select.

*hug*

Oh man, Lakers must be joking with Majok... anyone who saw him play in the NBL this year knows he is very, very raw. Can block a shot though.

Then again, anyone who saw Andre Brown in the NBL this year would also wonder how he played 80 odd games in the NBA! Anything is possible haha.

Very interesting draft with all the trades... should get even better up until July 1.

I'm actually very happy with the Iman Shumpert pick. At 6'5 and as athletically gifted as he is he will be able to guard all 3 perimeter positions. Have to remember that Westbrook wasn't a stud in college either. Plenty of upside for Iman. His point guard skills are actually not that bad, he will distribute a lot more in an NBA side with Carmelo and Stat than he did at Georgia Tech. Jump shot does need a bit of work but if he can improve that he could end up being a steal at 17.

I am a huge fan of Kenneth Faried but I don't think he is going to get much better than where he is at right now. He is undersized for a PF. Not what the Knicks need.

He had one of the best PF prospects coming out of HS on his team last year, and didnt pass to him.

Just saying ...

Eh Faried's standing reach is longer than the average NBA PF. Him being undersized is so overrated the guy is the best rounder in NCAA history he can rebound the **** out of the ball and will have no problem doing it at the next level as shown by those other guys Barkley, Rodman, Blair etc. Also when you are as hard worker as he is with a head on his shoulders i would think there is a chance he could still improve in his weaker areas (offence)

Happy with the Pacers getting Hill. What do Spurs fans think?

Probably means we'll move 1 of Price, Stephenson or Rush...not that they are worth jack all. Apparently Bird said Stephenson is our best player recently (talent wise) so I doubt it'll be him!

Stephenson would have been a Top 10 pick this year if he stayed in College one more year.
