It's odd, I've seen him speak quite rationally on topics, but the idea that one hit of cannibis could cause lifetime health problems isn't borne out by any research I've seen. Outside of an overdose, I can't think of any drug that would cause lifetime health effects from the 'tiniest' amount. The human body is remarkably resilient. And that's no more an endorsement of ice or ecstasy as it is cannabis.

Also intrigued about how these side effects square with accepted research into medicinal cannabis.
It's very odd as is the description of the cannabis lobby as 'insidious' but I'm sure neither of us will change his mind about it so it's not worth turning this thread into something that belongs on SRP for exactly zero gain.

My completely unqualified medical opinion is that smoking one bong can cause some kind of permanent damage but you'd have to be pretty bloody unlucky and it would probably be related to an underlying condition. I mean I could buy a pack of Winnie Blues and smoke them at lunch then never smoke again and get lung cancer one day but you wouldn't bet on it.

I do know of someone who was otherwise pretty straight laced, tried drugs in their late teens and it triggered epilepsy. Pure coincidence maybe but as above I know nothing about brain chemistry so I'll have to gauge the opinions of mummy bloggers on social media and report back.

Anyway, what's going on with this weather? Pissing down this morning, now a bit of blue sky and sun...

Thank you for the compliment. Perhaps you should consider why I would speak so confidently on this if you know I speak rationally on other topics.

Also an unqualified opinion, but weed is a mind altering drug and it makes sense to me that some parts of your brain chemistry won't return to normal even after one bongo.

Been in the thread I thought you must of been in Perth or something

The thing with a bit of weed these days is all the other shit that's been put into it. It's not just weed like the 70s. My mother liked a joint now and then but didn't smoke for years whilst I was a kid, when I was older she had some and found it completely unrecognizable.

People at my work have done all the drugs. Weed, Speed, Dexies, Pingas, Cocaine, Meth, whatever else, and like to report that their worst episodes have been whilst on Marijuana.

I was driving this evening toward the city on the Kwinanna Freeway and the sun was shining on the Melville waters and I felt lucky, like I had won the lottery or something.

I love Perth.

Made my first trip to an Aldi store last weekend. The new one in Kardinya where the IGA used to be. Have to say I left having bought nothing and feeling completely underwhelmed after all the tales I've heard of cheap stuff. Prices seemed pretty similar to Woolies. Was also surprised to see their check out operators have chairs to sit on.

There's nothing special about Aldi, but if you shop there for your staple items, they are definitely cheaper than your Coles or Woolies. The only problem is those items where you prefer a name brand that they don't have. Don't really shop there now that a Spud Shed is also nearby; what I don't understand is how Coles and Woolies can continue selling some items at the prices they do with so many other options opening up around Perth. Surely they have to come down at some point.

I paid particular attention to things like vegies and they really didn't seem that much cheaper if at all. Needed bog cleaner so had a look at that and sure the one brand they had was cheap but no cheaper than one that'd be on sale at any given time at Woolies. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to go there. It seemed a lot smaller than I imagined too but not sure if that's just the Kardinya one.

I haven't tried any of the really hardcore drugs (heroin, meth etc.), but can report that my only episode came from mixing my drugs (finishing with a cone to help me wind down).

Never again.

I do the shopping in my household and I find both Spud Shed and Aldi way cheaper, especially for fruit and vegies. Things like apples, strawberries, plums are always double the price at the nearby Woolies. Mind you, I haven't been to Aldi for a while, so maybe it's only Spud Shed that's markedly cheaper now. I only go to Woolies for things like branded cereal, coffee, coke etc. And cat food; ****ing fussy eating cat.
