There's not really a decent place to sit and have a few drinks in the city or Northbridge. I mean just casually, say if you lived in an apartment or you were knocking off at 8pm on a Friday. There's no low key, but still decent place that does a fine G&T and has the Swan/Coopers/Creatures/two craft taps. It's either some concept bar where you're going to feel grimey for being in more dressed down civvies, or else it's an absolute drinking den cesspit like the Brass Monkey. I went to the PIAF bar a few times and I think the prices were ok (not okay, but ohhhkaaaay) but eh it's not the same.

City side, surely. Belgian Beer Cafe for a beer, maybe 1927 or the bars around Print Hall for something more? Not gonna be cheap though.

I've always enjoyed The Stables on Hay Street when I've been there. May be too pretentious for some here though. /shrug

I've found the horses there quite rude, they won't even talk to you when you try and make polite conversation with them.

So is everyone looking forward to what will be ex tropical cyclone Marcus by then, heading our way?

Would be great if we get some rain from it, doesn't look like there will be much going by the forecast though.

Complaining about the umpires no doubt

Looked very impressive last night and this morning on the satellite and infrared images. Marcus is the equal ninth most intense cyclone in the Australian region ever recorded. :thumbsu:

Its a biggun now, once it starts to track south I think its forecast to lose its cohesion due to the high pressure system down here and wind shear.

No but now that you mention it I am surprised it has taken them this long to implement if it is a recent thing.
I got pulled over by one this morning. It was really weird. He was in the middle of the road at the lights like most ****head motorcyclists and took off and I was just matching his speed. We were both doing about 75 down Canning Highway and then where it goes into 3 lanes he zipped behind me and put his lights on. So he's lecturing me about road rage and I was defending myself, figuring he was about to book me for 15 over the limit anyway so I may as well get my moneys worth, saying I was pretty sure he was speeding too. Then just the way he was talking I thought hang about he's going to let me off here and he did!! It only occurred to me afterwards that he never showed me a badge or officer number or introduced himself formally or anything like that. It was bloody weird. So I'm thinking, is it actually possible it wasn't a cop? Could it have been some weird vigilante type do gooder because seriously, what cop would let someone go after pinging them for 15 over?

If sovereign citizen videos have taught me anything, you need to scream at him for his badge number and keep shouting AM I BEING DETAINED over and over again

Feed the horse yum yum ;)

I went there on a mate's bucks nite last year and didn't even remember I had been there until checking what I did with my card the next day. Security must be tight. The bourbons were about $12 each too. Only other time was there went for one drink then left. No atmosphere, very expensive. Nice surrounds though.

Apparently the Melbourne Hotel has reopened but they don't have a liquor licence yet.

So has anyone ever seen unmarked police motorbikes before?

Plenty of times on East Parade. They go between the cars looking to see if people are using their phones. I think it's a great thing because a lot of Perth drivers are complete weapons.
