To live or holiday?
Please provide opinion of both . I grew up there and have a fairly poor opinion of the place myself . Trying to gauge if others do too

Although since living in Melbourne I'm some what of a south west ambassador haha I recommend everyone visit and it do miss the climate, beaches and lifestyle . I just think growing up there scarred me somewhat

I've only ever done holidays there and enjoyed it, but everyone I've ever met who's lived there has said it's a hole

Yeah I can see how it you visited it'd be a nice quiet beachy get away . Very backwards culture there

Grew up there. It’s nice to get back every now and then for family and friends. I love it but it’s a hole.

Nice holiday spot, however I wouldn't live there.

Out of curiosity do people think Rockingham is like Bunno just closer to Perth and connected via a metro rail?

Rockingham isn't even that bad. There's some really nice areas and a few shit ones. Most areas are decent. At least they get a good size backyard there. There are some break-ins and hoons and drugs, and there's lots of bogans/unemployed at the shopping centre, but people are acting like 20 people get stabbed every day. Most people there are just trying to get along. The hysteria is mind-blowing.

I haven't been down there in years and yeah it looked a bit rough but it has positives, coastal, near train and freeway, not that far from Perth and affordable.

Its not hysteria, people just prefer to avoid it. Poor people tend to be more dangerous, hence why the poorer suburbs always top the charts in violent crimes.

I rag on my hometown but it's genuinely got some beauty – one of the best town beaches in Australia, multiple unspoilt white sanded, blue watered, rocky beaches, decent surf, fishing is still worthwhile, and just the national parks and natural landscape is amazing as it's the Australiana native trees, the rocks, but the beach too. And some good architecture.

Bunbury... no one goes there to swim. It isn't surrounded by nice looking environs. It's just full of poms and feels a bit banal and overpopulated and like it had this idea in 1991 it was going to be a bonafide second city then forgot about it.

The locals sure do

Rockingham is like a West Coast version of Wollongong.

agreed . which high school and how old are you ? I'm picking up a Newton Moore vibe
Ahh, I actually lived in Harvey until I was 19. Went to Hope Christian. 22 now. Not religious but it is what it is.

During the 1980s there was a proposal for a 4 Lane highway between Perth and Bunbury. Wanted to move half the government there or something, hence the ‘Milk Crate’ skyscraper. Bond was behind it. Obviously never eventuated.

Rockingham is a ****in hole.

Rock'n'em as the locals call it.

Or they recount as to what they did to a person at the train station.

You'd prefer to live in Rockingham because you can easily get the train away from there.

Having lived in Bunbury for a few years, I can tell you that living in Rockingham is preferable to living in the Bunburnian suburbs of Carey Park or Withers, which are much worse than anything Perth has to offer.

Yeah rather be able to jump on the train to the city whenever
