Massive fan of The Pixies, and imo, a massively underated band.

Been listening to them a fair bit lately, and I still love them.

Velouria, Caribou, The Sad Punk, Bam Thwok...all great. Actually I could go on but I wont.

Anyone else a fan?

Don't think they're underrated anymore. I think they've had their fair share of retrospective 'hey yeah I like them always have' attention in recent years *coughjoydivisioncough*.

But yes awesome band. Great times watching the Velouria and Monkey Gone To Heaven vids on rage.

Great times, however, bookended by the disgusting Prince, the darling of all rage programmers it would seem. But that's another story for another day.

Awesome band, though I would also hesitate to call them underrated these days. So many killer tracks though. Personally, I absolutely adore the last minute or so of No. 13 Baby. Debaser and Where Is My Mind? are certified alt rock anthems as well.

Loudquietloud is a must have for any fans of The Pixies as well...

Maybe not underated, maybe a little unappreciated.

I dunno, I just feel that The Pixies just dont get the recognition they deserve. So many great bands (Nirvana, Radiohead) were massively influenced by them.

I reckon that if they never had their hiatus, they could have been one of the all-time greats.

they had two killer albums and one killer EP in Surfer Rosa, Doolittle and Come on Pilgrim but from there it all went horribly wrong imo.
still, on the back of those 2.5 albums they'd be one of my favourite bands ever.

Oh god, not this again... ;)

And they obviously are highly rated/appreciated by those bands they influenced as well as any self-respecting 80s/90s alternative rock fan.

I reckon that if they never had their hiatus, they could have been one of the all-time greats.
At least we still got The Breeders... :thumbsu:

HELL YES!

Ground-breaking indie rock quartet Pixies will return to Australia next March.

It'll be part of "The Doolittle Tour" celebrating the 20th anniversary of the classic album Doolittle (1989), which was the second full-length release from the band. Black Francis, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago and David Lovering will perform all of the songs from the album as well as related B-sides.

Here's the Doolittle track listing:

1. Debaser
2. Tame
3. Wave of Mutilation
4. I Bleed
5. Here Comes Your Man
6. Dead
7. Monkey Gone to Heaven
8. Mr. Grieves
9. Crackity Jones
10. La La Love You
11. No. 13 Baby
12. There Goes My Gun
13. Hey
14. Silver
15. Gouge Away

"We wanted to do something special for Doolittle's 20th anniversary," Black Francis said, "and we thought this was a good opportunity to play all of the songs from that album, something we don't normally do at a regular gig."

This will be only the second Australian visit by Pixies. In 2007 they headlined the inaugural Australian V Festival, as well as shows in Melbourne and Sydney.

Here are the dates for Pixies' Doolittle Tour:

SYDNEY HORDERN PAVILION SUNDAY MARCH 14
BRISBANE CONVENTION CENTRE THURSDAY MARCH 18
MELBOURNE FESTIVAL HALL SATURDAY MARCH 20
ADELAIDE THEBARTON THEATRE WEDNESDAY MARCH 24

**** yeah. I'm pretty sure they played almost all of Doolittle on their last tour, so it's strange that they are advertising it as such. Not complaining though, I'll take any chance to hear No. 13 Baby live.

I think I'm away on the 18th of Sep so hopefully I can pick up some pre-sale tickets beforehand...
