Opinion The player I thought Port should draft / would be the next big thing

That's poor list management considering that we can't decide which of our three rucks are the number 1 and we have two "third-tall" types as KPFs.

Lord as a ruck is a completely baffling idea.

Our drafting of tall forwards has been abysmal. I guess when we never drop to the lower half of the ladder we don’t have the draft capital. Meanwhile Crows Tex and Thilthorpe. I do envy their forwards over the past decade.

Tex was from the old Broken Hill zone selection back when Neil Craig was coach and dinosaurs ruled the earth.

Thilthorpe was the prize for finishing bottom and even then their first pick was Ugle-Hagan which the Bulldogs matched. Imagine if they hadn't

Whitlock is a big watch at the moment.

We got it right with Georgiades.

After 2022, I thought we had it right with Marshall too.

Whitlock is a tall skinny teenage key position forward getting to the tail end of a year where's he's competed against big mature aged bodies all year. He would be running on fumes by now.

I rate a kid called Butters.
Don’t mind number 19 either, and number 18 when he fires up is an absolute super star.

I'm sure there more than a few expressing doubts about Georgie early on (before the knee injury), but he's flourished this year.

Very easy when you have the first pick of the draft and the best tall from SA over the last few decades is projected to go in the top 2.

Yep was one of those “almost” players that threatened to put it all together, but just never did.
