The players behaving professionally shouldn't be a consideration when coming up with a slogan like that.

It reeks of Kochie's desire to have everybody like us and it's the worst. We are about a step and a half away from renaming ourselves the Port Adelaide Care Bears, meanwhile Hawthorn took no action against Hodge for drink driving because they had a premiership to win.

The football interests of the club can exist without the community work. The opposite is not true.

Football department focus has to be primary.
Didn't KT say in your interview that the China initiative is no more a distraction to our football program than our community programs? Each has separate resources.

Exactly. A completely different department.

I took it partly as making our community proud by winning the premiership. I think it's broadening our focus a little, and adding some positivity. Positive goals can be pretty important, though it feels a bit vague and bullshitty to me.

I don't think we should have changed it. Our focus should be premierships, a return to success should motivate out choices at a time like this, and changing that is a change to what Port Adelaide has always been.

We exist to win premierships and make our community proud and be open to the world as a challenger brand and a disruptor that will never give up and get what it deserves and live the creed in a humble fashion as a destination club with long term job security for an underperforming top 4 list that needs to be brave and work harder and play Port Adelaide Football which seems to be code for 17% god mode on average but 100% dog mode when we play the worst Carlton teams in the history of the game for some strange reason unbeknownst to either the supernatural or science I mean just look at these 3km time trial results and this decibel meter everyone in the house make some noise!!!

The community aspect of our brand positioning has been in play as early as 2006 from my knowledge.
Not sure why it's all of a sudden seen as a bad thing.

Probably because we are in the longest premiership drought in the clubs history and there is no clear sign that is going to change in the next couple of years.

I don't normally weigh in on these kind of issues as I trust the club knows what it's doing. Putting this on the Guernsey definitely has smell of Vanilla about it though and isn't neccesary, the Port community is already proud of its club, the players need to be reminded why they are getting the big $$$$ - they are there to win premierships! That's their job.

I don't see what the issue is with the community part being added to the jumper or to our branding. It's been around as a slogan for sometime and was part of the reason the club was formed in 1870 'to provide a social club for the young men of Port Adelaide'. I accept winning premierships is/ should be our aim but the community has been a core aspect of the club for generations, it's one of the key things that make the PAFC something to be proud of and a true football club not a plastic soulless franchise.

The community stuff is great and by all reports we do it well. No one is arguing against it. But tacking a statement referring to it on the end of a strong, well established motto seems pretty redundant to me though.

Just do it and offer your seat to the elderly when you take public transport.

i hate we exist to win premierships and make our community proud and i keep thinking of the end of kenny's B&F speech where he said "we exist to win premierships and make our community proud, and we'll make you proud again", which is a nice summary but literally all we want as core port adelaide supporters is to hear those guys say "we want the flag", all we want is to hear him end that speech with "and we'll win that premiership again" but instead the part that gets emphasised is the new-age line about being proud. we don't need to be reminded that we are proud of the club or it's "GENIUNE TRADITION" (i hated those signs above the gates at AAMI that said that), i guess they're deemed essential to growing the brand outside the core supporters but can't we have a bit more of an actions speak louder than words approach? can't we show why we have genuine tradition rather than plastering those words on a sign, or make our community proud without adding the notion to what was one of the strongest footy tag lines ever.

We should go full St. Pauli though I don't think it will fit.

St. Pauli were the first club in Germany to integrate a set of Fundamental Principles (Leitlinien) to dictate how the club is run. The Fundamental Principles were passed by an overwhelming majority at the St Pauli Congress in 2009 and they go beyond solely football.

The first five Principles states that:

"In its totality, consisting of members, staff, fans and honorary officers, St. Pauli FC is a part of the society by which it is surrounded and so is affected both directly and indirectly by social changes in the political, cultural and social spheres."

"St. Pauli FC is conscious of the social responsibility this implies, and represents the interests of its members, staff, fans and honorary officers in matters not just restricted to the sphere of sport."

"St. Pauli FC is the club of a particular city district, and it is to this that it owes its identity. This gives it a social and political responsibility in relation to the district and the people who live there."

"St. Pauli FC aims to put across a certain feeling for life and symbolises sporting authenticity. This makes it possible for people to identify with the club independently of any sporting successes it may achieve. Essential features of the club that encourage this sense of identification are to be honoured, promoted and preserved."

"Tolerance and respect in mutual human relations are important pillars of the St. Pauli philosophy

They win at writing things, that's important.

Here are a couple of actual photos of the new home guernsey that I found on eBay. It looks like you'd imagine more or less. This is probably being pedantic but the angle of the shoulder panels cuts into the white panel, making it look a bit droopy at the top, so not really a fan of that.

The OAK Plus logo looks OK but I still think it needs a border.
