You can’t underestimate a good Manager

My angst now is more about exhaustion - retirement is just around the corner and I’m ready. The bank balance isn’t

Yup. My manager is definitely hands down the best one I've had in 43 years in the workforce. If he leaves (or gets pushed) I'll do everything I can to follow. If not, I'll look at doing something for pocket money and live off savings until super kicks in.

My director just got sacked. Not the best boss I've ever had but close to it, great bloke, was shattered when he got the arsee.

My new boss, yeah not so much haha

Anyone have experience with covering in some kind of material kitchen benchtops around a sink?

I have hardwood benchtops at my house. When i lived there i was very attentive and anal about it ( being wood near water) and would dry it several times a day. And it was good for 10 years.

Anyway, over the last year since i moved out my tenants have been less thorough and wood rot has settled in. In hindsight i should have applied several coats of fresh lacquer but didnt.

I feel that sanding back will need to go quite deep and still not solve the issues.

So i am looking for a temporary solution to cover the area in some waterproof coating while its tenanted.
Something that will stick down properly, and can have sink rectangle cut out etc.

Ill attach a photo. Resized_20241025_085629.jpeg

So the bench is L shape and am happy to cover all around the sink (off picture to the right) and back around to where the window frame starts on left.
(When i move back eventually i will remove them and switch to some stone product).

Do you have any behaviours garnered and perfected during the Covid lockdowns which have become part of your daily life?

When going for neighbourhood walks (which in itself is a covid practice), I move to the other side of the road when faced with other people coming from the opposing direction.

I sneeze into the elbow still

I use hand sanitiser religiously at work. Back from the loo, going into the lunchroom, etc. Lunchroom bottle (opaque) ran out a couple of days ago and I made an annoyed noise before heading back to my office. Chuckles from those eating lunch. Yeah well you're permanent staff with sick leave, get stuffed.

I'll also mask up as a matter of course when going to the doc, chemist etc. Keep forgetting to do it at the mall, but that's where I got the last bout of covid from so I should be more conscious of it. Not as many stares as when I was one of the first to be masked/gloved in 2020 but you do feel the odd one out.

The Algorithm.

I'm at a loss to understand it.

In the last 6 hours my twitter feed has become a huge race war primarily US and Canada vs India. I think it was triggered by Musk bemoaning the lack of engineering talent and being promptly ratioed by posts like "you mean the lack of engineering talent prepared to work 80-90 hour weeks for 9-5 wages" and "no white males can get an interview let alone a job"...

It's just gone haywire. Anybody any ideas? There were NONE of these posts yesterday or even earlier this morning.

I think as Twitter shrinks into itself, smaller "issues" can swamp the algorithm.

Musk writes some half-baked weirdo racist bullshit and people start fishing for responses purely in order to make money off their blue tick account.

1. Have a AI write a script that takes in the feeds of accounts with high response rates.
2. Have the script process those in an AI, looking for the most likely veins to mine for reactions.
3. Have the AI write responses and post them.
4. Make 12c off of a post.
5. Repeat 100,000 times per month.
